Abstract

Se describe un proceso para la formación selectiva de etanol a partir de ácido acético que incluye poner en contacto una corriente de alimentación que contiene ácido acético e hidrógeno a una temperatura elevada con un catalizador que comprende platino y estaño sobre una sílice de área superficial alta promovida con metasilicato de calcio; las selectividades para etanol de más de 85% se obtienen a 280°C con una vida de catalizador en los cientos de horas.
