Abstract
La presente invención se refiere en general a un proceso de tratamiento para glicerol alcalino crudo obtenido como un subproducto de la reacción de transesterificación de aceites y grasas naturales con alcoholes inferiores. La presente invención particularmente se refiere al tratamiento de glicerol alcalino crudo obtenido como un subproducto de la producción de biodiesel a partir de aceites vegetales y grasas animales utilizando ácidos orgánicos alquil-carboxílicos o su solución acuosa, que comprende los pasos de: (a) acidificación del material de glicerol alcalino crudo a pH en el intervalo de aproximadamente 4 a aproximadamente 6, particularmente de 4 a 5, con ácidos orgánicos alquil-carboxílicos, en presencia de agua en el intervalo de aproximadamente 5% a aproximadamente 50%, en particular de 15 a 30%, en peso con respecto al peso del material de glicerol alcalino crudo; (b) separación de los ácidos grasos libres formados, por ejemplo por flotación; (c) eliminación del alcohol presente en el material de glicerol crudo acidificado, por ejemplo por destilación; (d) separación del glicerol ácido.
