Abstract

The check valve of low opening pressure, is a device that enables a single direction flow therethrough, which is able to be opened and closed in an automatic manner depending on the flow direction, the device being actuated by an extremely low pressure difference, where the pressure is independent from the mounting direction and induces a small drop of pressure in the flow by means of angled gates with a hinged mechanism and semicircular shapes equipped with counterweights that reduce the torque for the rotation thereof, said valve therefore being useful for industrial applications of large flows at reduced pressures, like those flows generated by the converters of wave power of the oscillating water column type. This type of check valves may be used for converting the oscillating flow that supplies a turbine into a single direction flow, or also being useful for joining the flow resulting from two or more air chambers with the purpose of using a single turbine for several air chambers..
