Abstract

En general, la presente invención trata sobre minicromosomas y cromosomas recombinantes de caña de azúcar que contienen secuencias de centrómeros de caña de azúcar. Además, la invención contempla métodos para la generación de plantas de caña de azúcar transformadas con estos minicromosomas de caña de azúcar. Los minicromosomas de caña de azúcar con composiciones y estructuras novedosas son utilizados para transformar células de caña de azúcar, las cuales son utilizadas a su vez para generar plantas de caña de azúcar. Los métodos para la generación de plantas de caña de azúcar incluyen a métodos para introducir minicromosomas de caña de azúcar dentro de la célula de caña de azúcar para transformar la célula, métodos para seleccionar a la célula transformada y métodos para aislar las plantas de caña de azúcar transformadas con el minicromosoma o cromosoma recombinante de caña de azúcar.
