Abstract

La presente invención prove métodos para predecir la tolerancia asociada con el tratamiento de fármaco de 6-mercaptopurina de una alteración gastrointestinal inmune-moderada tal como enfermedad de intestino inflamatorio. En particular, la presente invención provee métodos para predecir el riesgo de un paciente de una reacción al fármaco adversa (o tolerancia) a un fármaco de 6-mercaptopurina mediante genotipado de un paciente en un sitio polimórfico en por lo menos un gen seleccionado del grupo que consiste de un gen de xantina deshidrogenada (XDH), gen de molibdeno cofactor de sulfurasa (MOCOS) y gen de aldehído oxidasa (AOX). La presente invención provee además métodos para optimizar la eficacia terapéutica en un paciente que recibe un fármaco de 6-mercaptopurina al determinar si se le debe dar al paciente un fármaco alternativo en base a la presencia o ausencia de polimorfismo en por lo menos uno de los genes XDH, MOCOS y AOX.
