Abstract
La invención se relaciona con un método para la filtración de fluido, principalmente líquido, mediante un dispositivo de filtración teniendo una entrada de fluido y una salida de fluido y una ruta de fluido entre la entrada y la salida a través de un filtro microporoso teniendo un tamaño de poro apropiado para la filtración de bacterias o de bacterias y virus mediante separación mecánica por tamaño de partículas. El dispositivo de filtración comprende además una fuente antimicrobiana que adiciona sustancia antimicrobiana al fluido en la ruta de fluida entre la entrada de fluido y la superficie de entrada del filtro microporoso. El dispositivo de filtración de fluido está provisto de un caudal diseñado a través del dispositivo que garantiza una filtración apropiada del fluido que pasa a través del dispositivo y un fluido purificado en la salida de fluido. La fuente antimicrobiana, por ejemplo una fuente de halógeno, es diseñada para liberar la sustancia antimicrobiana a una tasa baja de elución, la cual no es bastante alta para matar esencialmente a todos los microbios en el fluido durante el tiempo que el fluido tarda en fluir a través del dispositivo con el caudal diseñado, pero que es suficientemente alta para la prevención de una película biológica a largo plazo.
