Description

PLUG WITH FOLDING CAP FOR BOTTLES AND SIMILARS EQUIPPED WITH AN AUTOMATIC SYSTEM OF OPENING THE COVER THAT UNDERSTANDS A IMPROVED PUSH BUTTON DESCRIPTION Field of the invention The invention relates to the field of closures with hinged lid for bottles and the like.
More specifically, the invention relates to a cap with a hinged cover for bottles and the like provided with an automatic lid opening system comprising an improved push-button, said stopper comprising: a main body, provided with a supply nozzle, suitable to be applied in a neck of a bottle or similar; - a hinged lid attached to said main body by means of a hinge connection, so that said lid is apt to pivot between an open position and a collapsed position in which said supply mouth closes; said main body and said lid being molded in a rigid plastic material; - an elastic element disposed between said main body and said lid so as to exert an elastic return force of said lid toward its open position, said elastic element being made of an elastomeric material different from said rigid plastic material; - anchoring means between said lid and said main body apt to retain said lid in its folded down position; and - a push button capable of operating the release of said anchoring means, so that by acting on said push button an automatic and complete opening of the lid is obtained by the action of the resilient spring force exerted by said elastic element.
STATE OF THE ART Various stoppers of the type indicated at the beginning are known.
For example, EP0826606, EP0839735 and EP0975526 describe a plug of the type described at the beginning. A first characteristic of this plug consists in that the elastic element of elastomeric material extends over the lid and through the main body covering the anchoring means, with the purpose of providing a pleasant touch to the user when he acts on said anchoring means for release them. However, these anchoring means thus arranged do not form a push button itself and have the disadvantage that an added volume of elastomer material is required which must be molded with a relatively complicated shape, which negatively affects the manufacturing cost of the plug.
A second characteristic of the plug disclosed in the aforementioned documents EP0826606, EP0839735 and EP0975526 consists in that the elastic element has an extensible section passing from one side to the other of the hinge connection when the lid pivots between the open and folded positions. As a consequence, said extensible section suffers a maximum extension when the lid is in an intermediate position, so that the lid has two resting positions: the open position and the collapsed position. When the lid is in the lowered position and the user wishes to open it, it must release the anchoring means and push the lid against the force of the elastic element until it is moved beyond the intermediate position. This mode of operation has the disadvantage that it complicates the opening of the lid by the user and does not provide an automatic and complete opening of the lid with a simple gesture of pulsation.
A third characteristic of the plug disclosed in the aforementioned documents EP0826606, EP0839735 and EP0975526 consists in that the elastomeric material, in addition to forming an expandable section at the level of the hinge connection to perform a function of elastic return of the cover, also extends over part of the lid in order to ensure the tight closure of the supply orifice. In particular, the elastomeric material extends over the outer wall of a lug which is provided in the lid and which is forcibly inserted into the supply mouth, so that the elastomeric material is trapped between the outer wall of the lug and the lug. inner wall of the supply mouth. This solution has the disadvantage that the lug is firmly locked in the supply mouth, whereby to open the lid it is necessary to exert a considerable force.
Document EP0976663 discloses a plug of the type considered at the beginning, but which differs from the plug disclosed by the aforementioned documents EP0826606, EP0839735 and EP0975526 in which the only resting position of the lid is the open position, corresponding to a minimum extension of the stretchable stretch of the elastic element. This mode of operation is achieved thanks to the elastic element has an extendable section that is arranged between two ribs forming the hinge junction and which is attached to said ribs, so that said extensible section is not free to pass from one side to another of the hinge joint. With respect to the opening system, in this case the plug comprises an elastic push button formed by the elastomeric material. The user presses on said elastic button to release the anchoring means and thus cause an automatic opening of the lid thanks to the return force exerted on the lid. As regards the sealed seal of the supply mouth, in this case the cover is provided with a lug which is inserted in said supply mouth, but unlike the plugs mentioned above, the elastomeric material does not It extends over the lug, if not that it forms the upper edge of the supply mouth in the main body. The opening of the lid requires considerable force to extract the lug inserted in the supply mouth. Therefore, in order to cause an automatic opening of the lid after the release of the anchoring means, the extensible section of the elastic element must exert a high return force. On the other hand, said extensible section has a limited elasticity, since it is fixed to the ribs forming the hinge joint. With all this, the opening movement of the lid is quite abrupt, which is unpleasant for the user. In addition, the design of the pulsator formed by the elastomeric material has a negative effect on the manufacturing costs of the cap.
Document JP8113260 refers to a plug that resembles the type of plug to which the invention relates, but in which the release of the anchoring means is not done by a pushbutton, if not in a conventional way by pulling from a visor arranged on the lid. In this case, the elastomeric material performs only the function of elastic return of the lid, and is constituted by a separate piece that is fitted at its ends in housings provided in the lid and in the main body of the cap, presenting an extendable section intermediate which is freely arranged in an external position with respect to the hinge joint. The only resting position of the lid is the open position, which corresponds to a maximum extension of the stretchable section. This is achieved thanks to a projection, arranged on the outer face of the lid, which receives in support said extensible section and keeps it in an external position with respect to the hinge connection. This disposition of the projection has the disadvantage that it imposes important restrictions on the external design of the cover. For example, it makes it impossible to design a cover with a clear outer surface. Another drawback of this arrangement is that the projection has a reduced bearing surface which produces a point stress and a wear on the stretchable section of the elastic element. Furthermore, the arrangement of this projection does not allow the one-piece cap to be manufactured by overmolding the elastomer material, since demolding is not possible.
WO20041 10889 discloses a type of plug in which the hinge connection is made by the elastic element itself arranged as the only means of connection between the lid and the main body. This solution deviates from the type of stopper to which the invention relates and has the disadvantage that it considerably complicates the manufacture of the stopper. Moreover, in this case the plug does not comprise anchoring means properly said; The maintenance function of the lid in its folded down position is carried out by the lug itself, which is inserted in the supply mouth to close it and is locked in it by friction. The cap is provided with a push button that works by pushing the lid upwards until the lug is removed from the supply port. This opening system has the disadvantage that the user must act on the push button by moving it enough to extract the lug from the supply mouth. This operation is not very comfortable and departs from a real push button, which must have a more instantaneous behavior.
Summary of the invention The purpose of the invention is to provide a stopper of the type indicated at the beginning that allows an automatic and complete opening of the cover acting on a push button with a simple and comfortable gesture, and which does not have the drawbacks of the known stoppers mentioned in the foregoing.
In particular, the main purpose of the invention is to provide a stopper with a pushbutton that acts quickly releasing the anchoring means between the cover and the main body, without it being necessary to use elastomeric material to make the pushbutton and without significantly complicating the fabrication process.
This purpose is achieved by means of a plug of the type indicated at the beginning, characterized in that the main body has a side partition and an upper base in which the supply opening is arranged; the push button is formed by a displaceable area that is molded in one piece together with said main body in rigid plastic material and comprising at least one front part delimited in said side wall and joined at its lower end to said side wall by a line connection defining a pivot axis of said movable area, said front part having a pulsing surface able to receive in support the finger of a user; and the anchoring means comprise a first part formed in said movable area and a second part formed in said cover and capable of being anchored in said first part.
This stopper according to the invention does not require the use of elastomer material for the realization of the pushbutton, which is based on local geometric shapes defined in the rigid plastic material of the main body and the lid itself. On the other hand, thanks to the fact that the first part of said anchoring means is arranged in the displaceable area of the main body, when the push-button is actuated, the release of the second part of the anchoring means and thereby the opening thereof takes place directly. from the top. The actuation surface on the push button is in the displaceable area itself, so that the user acts directly on the movable area. This direct action and release, combined with the return force exerted by the elastic element disposed between the lid and the main body, provides an easy and effective opening of the lid. To actuate the push button, the user acts on the pulsing surface defined on the front of the push button, ie on the side wall of the main body, so that he can comfortably open the lid by a single gesture of the finger, while holding the bottle with one hand.
Preferably, said displaceable area is delimited in said main body by a deformable contour defined by a geometric weakening of the own wall of said main body. This deformable contour provides greater robustness to the push button and, being deformable, allows a limited but sufficient pivoting of the displaceable area around the joint line.
Preferably, the geometrical weakening of the wall of the main body forming said deformable contour has, in section, a bent shape and of reduced thickness with respect to the adjacent areas of said wall. Thanks to this particular shape, the deformable contour can be stretched and contracted slightly, allowing a movement of the displaceable area sufficient to free the anchoring means. On the other hand, this geometrical configuration can be obtained without difficulty in the molding operation of the main body of the plug.
Advantageously, said deformable contour has an upper section which defines in said upper base an upper part of the displaceable area and respective lateral sections defining in said lateral partition the front part of the displaceable area, said lateral sections extending the ends of said upper section up to that line of union. With this configuration, a particularly robust push button is obtained. By pressing with your finger on the pulsing surface, the pivoting of the displaceable area is obtained with little effort thanks to a contraction of the contour in the upper section and to a lateral deformation in the lateral sections. The push-button works only if the stopper is pressed on the pulsing zone in a direction substantially perpendicular to the lateral septum, thereby minimizing the possibility of the lid accidentally opening by contact with an external element.
Preferably, said geometric weakening forms the deformable contour in the form of a groove that has in said lateral sections a decreasing depth towards the lower ends of said lateral sections, whereby the push button is reinforced without substantially affecting the pivoting of the deformable area around the line of union.
Preferably, the anchoring means are formed by a window made in said front part of the displaceable area and by a hook-shaped projection formed in the lid. When the user acts on the pulsing surface, the displaceable area moves away from the side wall so that the projection is disengaged from the window.
Preferably, said deformable contour defines a continuous joining surface between said displaceable zone and the rest of said main body, thereby preventing dirt or any external element from entering through the deformable contour.
The invention contemplates, optionally, some advantageous embodiments that include characteristics relative to the elastic element and to the parts of the main body and the lid that interact with it to perform the functions of elastic return of the lid. These characteristics, in combination with the characteristics described in the foregoing regarding the push button, contribute to obtain a better behavior of the automatic opening of the lid, in particular a more effective opening but not too abrupt, and this without negatively impacting the costs of manufacture of the cap.
In an advantageous embodiment of the invention, the stopper is configured as follows - the elastic element has at least one first joint area secured to said main body and at least one second joint area secured to said cover, said at least one extensible section of said elastic element being defined between said first and second joining zones; - the main body of the cap comprises at least one protrusion defining a seat surface located in an exterior position with respect to said hinge joint; and - said expandable section of the elastic element freely extends in front of said seating surface, so that when the lid pivots towards its folded down position said seating surface receives in support said stretchable stretch of the elastic element and keeps it located in an exterior position with with respect to the hinge joint. This configuration ensures that the stretchable section of the elastic element is always located in an external position with respect to the hinge connection, whereby the only resting position of the cover is the open position corresponding to a minimum extension of the extensible section of the element. elastic. Due to the fact that the extensible section is freely arranged in front of the seat surface, its elasticity is not affected by interactions with the rigid elements of the cap. On the other hand, arranging said protuberance in the main body of the cap keeps the design freedom of the cap and some particularly advantageous solutions are possible.
One of these advantageous solutions consists in that the protrusion defining the bearing surface extends from a lower end located in the main body next to said first joining zone of the elastic element to an upper end projecting from said main body and which remains located next to said second joining zone of the elastic element when the lid is in its folded down position. Thanks to this configuration, it is achieved that in the collapsed position of the cover the stretchable section of the elastic element rests along its entire length on the seating surface, thereby avoiding local stresses and wear. It is also avoided that said extensible section can be hooked with an external body during transport or handling of the bottle that has incorporated the cap.
Preferably, said seat surface has a convex-shaped section in which the stretchable section of the elastic element comes in support in the folded down position of the lid, thus obtaining a softer support that avoids local stresses.
In a preferred embodiment of the invention, said second joining area of the elastic element has an elongated shape extending parallel to the axis of said hinge joint, and said elastic element is provided with two of said first joining areas, separated by a open space facing said hinge joint, and two of said free extendable stretches defined between said first attachment zones and said second attachment zones, said main body comprising two of said protuberances respectively defining two of said seating surfaces located in position outside with respect to the hinge joint and faced respectively with said two stretchable stretches of the elastic element. This configuration distributes the elastic effort between two extensible sections, allowing a better adjustment of the elastic return force. It also facilitates the realization of the hinge joint, which is framed laterally by the two extensible sections.
In an advantageous embodiment of the invention, said main body and said cover have a truncated contour by respective flat faces joined by a bridge constituting said hinge joint, said protuberance protruding from the flat face of the main body, and said flat face the cover having at least one window through which said protuberance protrudes and said expandable section of the elastic element when the cover is in the folded down position. This embodiment of the plug has the advantage of being particularly compact.
The invention also contemplates, optionally, advantageous embodiments that include characteristics relative to the sealed sealing of the supply mouth by the lid. These features are intended to provide a plug in which the interaction between the lid and the supply mouth does not entail significant friction between these elements, so that when releasing the anchoring means acting on the push button, the lid opens without impediments , stretched by the return action of the elastic element without it having to perform a significant force to unblock the supply mouth.
Thus, in a preferred embodiment of the invention, said lid has on its inner face a flat contact area made of elastomeric material and facing said supply mouth in the folded position of the lid, so that said flat contact area of the Elastic element is applied against the upper edge of said supply mouth. This flat contact zone of the elastomer material ensures a tight seal of the supply mouth, without external or internal coupling with the supply mouth, whereby the de-occlusion is produced by simple lifting of the cover without the need to overcome a resistant force of friction.
Preferably, the internal face of said lid is provided with a recess that houses said flat contact zone, thereby facilitating its connection with the lid during the manufacture of the cap.
Preferably, said elastic element of elastomeric material which ensures the elastic return of the lid also forms said flat contact zone. Thus, it is avoided to have several different parts of elastomer material and a manufacturing process of the plug is facilitated by overmolding the elastomer material on the rigid plastic material of the main body and the lid.
Preferably, said elastic element comprises a connecting strip extending between said flat contact zone and the part of the elastic element where the second joining zone is located, and the internal face of said lid is provided with a race that ends at said end. emptying and housing said link strip. This solution facilitates, in particular, the realization of the elastic element of elastomeric material by means of an overmolded process, since the regatta and the emptying act as a mold.
Preferably, said flat contact zone and said connecting strip are disposed flush in said emptying and said race, respectively, whereby projections on the inner side of the cover in which the dirt can accumulate are avoided.
Preferably, the elastic element of elastomeric material is overmoulded in the piece of rigid plastic material formed by said main body and said lid, for example by a bi-injection process. In an advantageous solution, said elastic element passes through the thickness of said lid from said contact area and forms an outer layer of elastomeric material that extends over at least a part of the outer face of the lid. This makes it possible to inject the elastomer material on the outer face of the cap and, at the same time, obtain an outer covering of elastomer material that is apt to form a geometry or an advertising motif that personalizes the cap.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF EMBODIMENTS OF THE INVENTION Figs. 1 to 13 illustrate a first embodiment of a cap according to the invention that is intended to be applied in water bottles and that allows the lid to be opened easily with the same hand that holds the bottle, by pressing with the finger a push button arranged on the body main of the stopper.
The plug is formed by a main body (1), which is provided with a supply mouth (2), and a cover (3) that is attached to the main body (1) by a bridge (4) that functions as hinge union. The main body (1) and the lid (3) are molded in one piece in a rigid plastic material, for example polypropylene. The cover (3) can pivot with respect to the axis formed by the hinge connection (4) between an open position and a collapsed position in which the cover (3) seals the supply mouth (2). An elastic element (7), made of an elastomeric material, for example a thermoplastic elastomer (TPE), joins the main body (1) and the lid (3) so as to exert an elastic return force of the lid (3) towards its open position. As will be explained in detail later, the elastic element (7) has an extendable section (7c) freely arranged in the outer position with respect to the hinge connection (4), so that when the cover (3) is closed by pivoting it from its open position the extensible section (7c) is progressively tensioned and therefore always exerts an elastic return force of the cover (3) towards the open position.
The main body (1) has a globally cylindrical shape, with a side partition (11) and an upper base (12) in which the supply mouth (2) is arranged, and is provided with a movable area (5) delimited by a deformable contour (8) defined by a geometric weakening of the main body wall (1) itself, as can be seen in more detail in Figs. 4 to 6. The geometric weakening that forms the deformable contour (8) presents, in section, a bent shape and of decreased thickness with respect to the adjacent areas of the wall of the main body (1), and defines a continuous joining surface between said displaceable zone (5) and the rest of the main body (1), as can be seen in particular in Figs. 7 to 9. The deformable contour (8) thus formed has a U-shaped upper section (8a) disposed in the upper base (12) of the main body (1) and two lateral sections (8b) that extend into the partition lateral (11) extending the ends of the upper section (8a) and defining in said side partition (11) a front part (5a) of the displaceable area (5). The lower end of this front part (5a), in which the two lateral sections (8b) open, is joined to the side partition (11) forming a joining line (22) around which the displaceable area pivots (5). ). As can be seen in Figs. 4 to 6, the groove formed by the geometric weakening that forms the contour (8) presents a decreasing depth towards the lower ends of the lateral sections (8a), until reaching the joining line (22). A pulsing surface (13), apt to receive a user's finger in support, is arranged in the front part (5a) of the displaceable area (5).
The plug comprises anchoring means between the lid (3) and the main body (1) formed by a window (6a) made in the front part (5a) of the displaceable area (5) and a projection (6b) in the form hook shaped on the lid (3). To close the lid (3), the user swings it acting against the return force of the elastic element (7), until the lid reaches the folded position shown in Fig. 9, in which the projection (6b) remains anchored in the window (6a).
The displaceable area (5) thus formed forms a pushbutton capable of operating the release of said anchoring means (6a), (6b) and causing the consequent automatic opening of the lid (3). For this, the user pushes with one finger the pressing surface (13) causing a slight pivoting of the displaceable area (5), whose upper part moves away from the partition (11), whereby the projection (6b) unlocks from the window (6a) and release the lid (3), which pivots to its open position thanks to the return force exerted by the elastic element (7). The pivoting of the displaceable area (5) around the joining line (22) is accompanied by a contraction of the transverse side of the upper section (8a) and of a lateral deformation of the lateral sections (8b) and of the longitudinal sides of said upper section (8a).
This embodiment of the plug according to the invention also incorporates certain characteristics relating to the elastic element (7) and to the parts of the main body (1) and the cover (3) that interact with it to perform the functions of elastic return of the cover (3). As can be seen in particular in Figs. 10 to 13, the elastic element (7) has two first joining areas (7a) joined to the main body (1) and a second joining area (7b) attached to the cover (7). Between the first joining zones (7a) and the second joining zone (7b) extend respectively stretchable stretches (7c) of the elastic element which are freely arranged in an external position with respect to the hinge connection (4). The first joining zones are separated by an open space (11) facing said hinge joint (4). The main body (1) comprises two protuberances (9) defining seating surfaces (10) located in an exterior position with respect to the hinge junction (4) and facing the extensible stretches (7c) of the elastic element. Each protrusion (9) extends from a lower end located in the main body (1), next to a first joining area (7a) of the elastic element, to an upper end projecting from the main body (1) and located next to the second joining area (7b) of the elastic element in the folded down position of the cover (3). The surface (10) formed in each protuberance (9) presents in its upper part a section of convex shape, while in the lower part it is flat to facilitate demolding.
The main body (1) and the lid (3) have a contour that is truncated by respective flat faces (19), (20) joined by the bridge (4) that constitutes the hinge connection. The protuberances (9) protrude through the flat face (19) of the main body and the flat face (20) of the cover has two windows (21) through which project the protuberances (9) and the stretches (7c) of the element elastic (7) in the folded position of the lid (3), as can be seen in Figs. 11, 12 and 13.
When the lid (3) pivots towards the folded position illustrated in Figs. 9, 12 and 13, the seating surfaces (10) receive in support the extensible sections (7c) of the elastic element (7) and keep them located in an external position with respect to the hinge connection (4). Thanks to this, in any position of the cover (3) between the open position and the folded position, the stretchable sections (7c) are elastically extended, with respect to their state in said open position of the cover (3), so that said open position is the only rest position of the lid (3). As can be seen in said figures, in the folded down position of the lid each stretch is applied along its entire length against the surface (10).
Likewise, this embodiment of the cap according to the invention incorporates certain characteristics that refer to the sealed sealing of the supply mouth by the lid. The elastic element (7) of elastomeric material extends, from the part where the second joint zone (7b) is located, by a link strip (15) to form a flat contact zone (14) at the end thereof. between the lid (3) and the supply mouth (2). The inner face of the cover (3) is provided with a race (16) leading to said central emptying (17). The elastic element (7) of elastomeric material is formed by an overmolding process on the piece of rigid plastic material forming the main body (1) and the cover (3), so that the connecting strip (15) and the flat contact zone (14) are disposed flush, respectively, * ¾n said regatta (16) and in said emptying (17). As can be seen in FIG. 9, in the folded down position of the cover (3) the flat contact area (14) of elastomeric material is applied against the upper edge of the supply mouth (2), without frictionally engaging the this last.
Fig. 14 shows a second embodiment that is a variant of the first. In this case, the lid (3) has a central hole through which the elastomer material is injected in the overmolding process, so that the elastic element (7) of elastomeric material formed by this process passes through the thickness of the lid ( 7) from said flat contact (14) and forms an outer layer (18) of elastomeric material that extends over a part of the outer face of the lid (3). The shape and appearance of this outer layer (18) can be customized for each cap.
Finally, Figs. 15 to 17 show a third embodiment of the invention in which an elastic element (7) is provided with a single first joining area (7a) joined to the second joining area (7b) by a single extensible section (7c) ). The main body (1) has a single central protrusion (9). In this case, the main body (1) and the cover (3) do not have a truncated contour at the level of the hinge joint (4) as in the previous embodiments, but that said contour is substantially circular. The hinge connection (4) is formed in two parts disposed on either side of the central protrusion (9).
