Abstract

La presente invencion describe compuestos y articulos resistentes a la penetracion que son de peso ligero y estables a la luz ultravioleta. Un compuesto resistente a la penetracion tiene una placa y una pluralidad de capas fibrosas colocadas adyacentes a por lo menos una superficie principal de la placa. Por lo menos una de las capas fibrosas incluye una fibra polimerica que es estable a la luz ultravioleta. El compuesto tiene una densidad de area menor de aproximadamente 25 kilogramos por metro cuadrado, y no es penetrable de acuerdo con el estandar NIJ-0101.04 nivel III fechado en septiembre de 2000.
