Abstract

Se describe un aparato que puede acoplarse con un ensamble de freno de mano que aplicara automaticamente al menos un freno asegurado a un vehiculo ferreo con este ensamble de freno de mano. El aparato de la invencion comprende un mecanismo operativo que tiene al menos una porcion del mismo que se puede acoplar con al menos un engrane de un ensamble de engranes dispuesto en un elemento de alojamiento del ensamble freno de mano para operar este ensamble de engranes. El mecanismo operativo es un cilindro neumatico de dos etapas (300) que tiene una porcion primaria (308) para la fase inicial de la aplicacion del freno y una porcion secundaria (310) para la aplicacion de freno final para aplicar altas fuerzas para cumplir con los requerimientos de la AAR. Una fuente de presion de fluido esta conectada al mecanismo operativo para suministrar periodicamente una presion determinada a este medio operativo. Un dispositivo de control esta conectado a la fuente de presion de fluido para iniciar el suministro de la presion predeterminada al mecanismo operativo. Un dispositivo de control adicional esta conectado a la fuente de presion de fluido para regular el suministro de la presion predeterminada al mecanismo operativo causando de esta manera una aplicacion automatica del freno por el ensamble de freno de mano.
