Abstract

La presente invención se refiere a método mejorado para alimentar materiales ferrosos particulados a un horno metalúrgico del tipo que contiene un baño de hierro líquido y una capa de escoria cubriendo dicho baño y que tiene unas paredes verticales arriba del nivel de dicha escoria para contener gases, calor radiante, etc, caracterizado por formar un baño de hierro fundido con una capa de escoria en dicho horno, introducir el extremo inferior de descarga de un alimentador alargado a través de un agujero en la pared de dicho horno hasta una posición operativa por lo menos próximamente adyacente a dicha capa de escoria, empujar el material ferroso particulado hacia abajo dentro de dicha capa de escoria por medio de dicho alimentador en la dirección del baño de hierro fundido, y cargar continuamente las partículas via dicho alimentador al hierro fundido a aproximadamente la misma velocidad a la que se funde dicha carga en el horno.
