Abstract
The present invention relates to a process for manufacturing yarns by melt spinning of polyethylene terephthalate (PETP), in which process in one operation the solid PETP is melted and the molten PETP is extracted through spinning holes and solidified in a spun product that is stretched on a thread, characterized in that the following requirements are met: a) solid PETP has a relative viscosity within the range of 1.8 to 2.1; b) before spinning the PETP is mixed with 0.1 percent to 0.8 percent by weight of a bis-centenimine; c) the melted PETP is extracted from the row holes at a speed within the scale of 1500 to 4000 meters per minute and d) the spun product formed is stretched without intermediate winding at a draw ratio of 1.5 to 4.0 with the condition that the draw ratio of 1.5 to 4.0 with the proviso that the draw ratio is not such that the final wire speed is greater than 6000 meters per minute.
