Abstract
La presente invención se refiere a un procedimiento para mejorar la calidad de crudos de petróleo pesados que tienen una gravedad específica alta, un punto de congelación elevado, altas viscosidades, y alto contenido de metales, azufre, agua, sal y carbono Conradson para fabricar coque adecuado para fines metalúrgicos, caracterizado porque comprende las etapas de (a) mezclar un diluyente con el crudo de petróleo entrante para formar una mezcla de crudo de petróleo y diluyente para disminiuir la viscosidad y facilitar la deshidratación y desalinación del petróleo crudo; (b) alimentar la mezcla de petróleo crudo y diluyente a un deshidratados en donde el contenido de agua de la mezcla de petróleo crudo y diluyente es reducido a no más de 1.0 por ciento en volúmen; (c) alimentar la mezcla deshidratada de petróleo crudo y diluyente a un desalinizador en donde el contenido de la mezcla de petróleo crudo y diluyente es reducida a no más de aproximadamente 5PTB; (d) alimentar la mezcla deshidratado y desalinizada de petróleo crudo y diluyente a una unidad de destilación atmosférica en donde se producen productos de hidrocarburo gaseosos, un producto de hidrocarburo de fracción de cabeza de 259.7 grados C menos (500 grados Fminus) y un residuo; (e) alimentar el producto de hidrocarburo de fracción de cabeza de 250.7 grados C menos a una unidad de separación para tratamiento adicional, con lo cual la nafta y los gases de salida son separados como productos de cabeza y se produce un diluyente con intervalo de punto de ebullición estrecho comprendido entre 204.4 grados C y 260 grados C; (f) recircular el diluyente de rango estrecho de punto de ebullición; y (g) mezclar dicho diluyente con el petróleo crudo entrante antes de la deshidratación y desalinización para reducir la viscosidad del crudo y controlar su temperatura y tiempo de residencia en el deshidratador y en el desalinador para facilitar la deshidratación y desalinización.
