Abstract
The invention relates to a method and a device for the geometric measurement and speed determination of vehicles (5) moving along a road in the longitudinal direction of the same, by means of at least one laser scanner (1) which is mounted above the level of the road. Said laser scanner scans the road or a vehicle moving along said road in the direction of travel (2), within a defined measuring range in a measuring plane which is oriented towards the road or the vehicle, and produces a profile of the vehicle in the measuring plane as measuring data of a scan cycle. The invention is characterised in that the measuring plane of the laser scanner (1) is oblique in relation to the plane which is perpendicular to the direction of travel (2), and a time-related spatial representation (P¿Z?) of a vehicle (5) is determined from the measuring data of the laser scanner, on the basis of which both at least the length and the speed of the vehicle are determined, taking into account a typical vehicle form.
