Abstract

The invention relates to chemistry and medicine, namely to the use of a biologically active organic compound from the class of thiosemicarbazones, which exhibits a high bactericidal and bacteriostatic activity against Candida albicans, and may find application in medicine and veterinary medicine for the prophylaxis and treatment of mycoses.Summary of the invention consists in the use as a Candida albicans kind fungi proliferation inhibitor of N-(2,4-dimethylphenyl)-2-(2-hydroxybenzylidene)-hydrazinecarbothioamide of formula:At the same time, said thiosemicarbazone exhibits at the same time a bacteriostatic antimicrobial activity 2-fold higher compared to Staphylococcus aureus and 4…17 times higher compared to Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae and Pseudomonas aeruginosa as compared to the reference methyl N'-[(2-hydroxynaphthalene-1-yl)methylidene]-N-(prop-2-en-1-yl)-hydrazinecarbimidothioate compound.
