Abstract

The variety of walnut-tree Skinosskii (Juglans regia L.0 is obtained by individual selection from the local seeds of the environs of Chişinău and is destinated for the cultivation of walnut-trees in all the fruit-growing areas of the Republic of Moldova. This is a tree which a medium force of growing, reaching 10-12 meters in height and the same size in diameter, with a high, round, thin crown. The skeletal branches are strong, long, bare, well-jointed with the leader. The flowers in form of pistils are big, rounded, with a big stigma, the stamen-formed flowers are gathered in long, thick aments. The variety of tree blossoms early and it is protogene.The mean size of the walnuts is over 12,5 g and they are of an egg-form. The valves form well - distinguished ribs. The nutshell is thin, flat, bright straw-coloured, of a medium strength. The kernel is big, straw-coloured, covered by a thin, yellow pellicle, constitutes 50% of the weight of the walnut and if fills completely the valves. the trees enter in the fruit-bearing perious 5-6 years after the plantation. The productive capacity of the variety is 2 tons per hectare.
