Abstract

The invention relates to fruit growing, in particular to a process for pruning apple trees.The process for pruning apple trees, according to the invention, includes pruning for shape of the free-growing crown in the form of a spindle, which is formed beginning with the second year after planting, consisting of a well-developed axle and 4 primary scaffold branches of a length of 45...60 cm, arranged in the form of a rarefied tier at a height of 60...65 cm from the soil surface, at the same time beginning with the third year after planting, on the primary scaffold branches and on the central axle is carried out the selective pruning of branches grown in the previous year, complying with the alternation of the replacement spurs of a length of 7...10 cm and the overgrown branches, which are not shortened, beginning with the fourth year after planting, the shoots of the replacement spurs, formed in the previous year, are not shortened, and beginning with the sixth year - the branches having born fruits are removed at the ring or from some of them are formed replacement spurs, in the following years it is carried out the pruning for crown maintenance, complying with the same principles of pruning.The result of the invention is to accelerate the entry of fruit trees into bearing and to increase the yield.
