Description

The invention relates to medical technology, in particular to a device for normalizing intraocular pressure, and can be used in ophthalmological microsurgery for the surgical treatment of glaucoma patients.

Drainage tubes (Xen Gel Stent©, Cypass©, etc.) are known for the same purpose, which have advantages and disadvantages in their use. XEN Gel Microstent is a surgical device for the treatment of minimally invasive glaucoma with its subconjunctival placement, developed with the aim of improving intraocular pressure and the safety of surgical procedures for glaucoma. The device is a hydrophilic tube, composed of a porcine gel with glutaraldehyde [1].

Arch. Soc. Esp. Oftalmol. 2016, no 91(9), p. 415-421). La fel implantarea stentului de gel XEN necesită utilizarea mitomicinei C şi, astfel, împărtăşeşte cel puţin unele dintre riscurile trabeculectomiei clasice (Vera V., Sheybani A., Lindfield D., Stalmans I., Ahmed I.I.K. Recommendations for the management of elevated intraocular pressure due to bleb fibrosis after XEN gel stent implantation. Clin. Ophthalmol. 2019 Apr18, no 13, p. 685-694). The disadvantages of using the mentioned device (Xen Gel Stent©) are a series of adverse reactions, such as allergic conjunctivitis, conjunctival hyperemia and ocular itching, burning sensation, conjunctival folliculosis, hypertension, ocular allergic reaction, dry mouth and visual disturbances, also causing subconjunctival hemorrhage at 280°, extrusion of the drainage tube during positioning and encapsulation of the filtration bubble after 5 months of surgery (Pérez-Torregrosa V.T., Olate-Pérez Á., Cerdà-Ibàfiez M., et al. Combined phacoemulsification and XEN45 surgery from a temporal approach and 2 incisions. Arch. Soc. Esp. Oftalmol. 2016, no 91(9), p. 415-421). The implantation technique of these drainage systems is usually combined with cataract phacoemulsification. Similarly, XEN gel stent implantation requires the use of mitomycin C and, thus, shares at least some of the risks of classic trabeculectomy (Vera V., Sheybani A., Lindfield D., Stalmans I., Ahmed I.I.K. Recommendations for the management of elevated intraocular pressure due to bleb fibrosis after XEN gel stent implantation. Clin. Ophthalmol. 2019 Apr18, no 13, p. 685-694).

The problem solved by the present invention consists in developing a device for normalizing intraocular pressure, which would avoid the occurrence of the complications mentioned above.

The essence of the invention is that the device contains a tube with a length of 3 mm, an inner diameter of 0.3 mm and an outer diameter of 0.6 mm, which is connected at one end to the middle of a working head, made in the shape of a semicircle with a diameter of 3.0 mm and a thickness of 0.4 mm, at the same time the tube communicates with the inner part of the working head through a pierced hole, and the device is made of polyethylene.

The result is that the device is effective, safe, simple and allows for the surgical treatment of glaucoma.

The advantages of the claimed device consist in the fact that the construction of the device allows for the performance of antiglaucoma intervention with minimal damage to the ocular tissues, preventing encapsulation of the filtration bubble and its reopening in case of obstruction.

The semicircular construction of the working head of the device prevents encapsulation of the filtration bubble, and the presence of the pierced hole inside the working head allows it to be opened with a 30 G syringe in case of obstruction, which would restore the flow of aqueous humor.

The invention is explained by the drawings in the figure, which represent the overall view of the device.
