Abstract
L'invention concerne un procédé de dessalement d'eau à grande échelle permettant de produire au moins 100 000 m<sup>3</sup>/jour d'eau produite. L'eau d'alimentation passe par une pompe à haute pression entraînée par au moins une turbine à vapeur pouvant produire au moins 1 MW d'énergie, l'eau d'alimentation pressurisée traversant au moins une membrane d'osmose inverse pour fournir un courant de saumure résiduaire et une eau de production. Une étape de démarrage permet d'augmenter lentement la pression dans la membrane à un taux maximum de 12 psi (8,3 N/cm<sup>2</sup> ; 0,08 MPa) par seconde au moyen de la rotation de la pompe haute pression entraînée par la turbine à une vitesse maximale de 30 tr/min afin d'augmenter lentement la pression sur la membrane jusqu'à une pression opérationnelle prédéterminée et de réguler la pression opérationnelle après l'étape de démarrage au moyen de la rotation de la pompe haute pression entre 500 tr/min et 5000 tr/min en fonction de la pression appliquée par la turbine à vapeur.
