Abstract

The present invention describes a method for preparing activated carbon from Argan nut shells prepared by chemical activation using boric acid H3BO3 and phosphoric acid H3PO4 for the elimination of Diclofenac, this material was characterized by scanning electron microscope, Fourier transform infrared spectrometry, X-ray powder diffraction, Brunauer–Emmet-Teller potential and Zeta. The adsorption of Diclofenac, an anti-inflammatory drug, from distilled water by kinetic, equilibrium and thermodynamic tests was investigated. Batch mode experiments were conducted to evaluate the adsorption capacity of Diclofenac from aqueous solution using the above carbon. The adsorption results showed that the equilibrium time is 90 minutes. The adsorption of Diclofenac on activated carbon produced from Argan nut shells is described by a pseudo-second order kinetic model. The highest adsorption capacity determined by the Langmuir model is approximately 233 mg/g
