Abstract

스플릿 채널 브릿징 유닛은 요구 유저에 해당하는 케이블 텔레비젼 시스템의 케이블 분배 선단과 결합하는 변조기로, 유저에 대한 도착 정보의 패킷들을 전달하기 위해, 제어 프로세서의 제어하에 동작하는 루터를 포함한다. 변조기는 루터로부터 전송된 디지탈 정보를 암호화하고, 텔레비젼 케이블에 의해 전달되는 채널에서 디지탈 정보를 암호화한다. 케이블 분배 선단은 해당 유저에 대한 이 채널들을 방영(송)하기 위해 다른 종래의 케이블 텔레비젼 소스들과 이 채널을 조합한다. 유저의 고객 구내 장비는 RF 복조기와 패킷 수신기를 포함하며, RF 암호화 신호들을 복조하고, 패킷 수신기를 이용하여 유저의 개인용 컴퓨터로 특정 유닛에 어드레스 지정된 디지탈 정보를 전송한다. 업스트림 요구는 스플릿 채널 브릿징 유닛에서 포함된 말단(terminating) 모뎀과 함께 공중 회선 전화 교환망에 대하여 모뎀 접속을 이용하여 유저에 의해 이루어진다. 안전한 저속 제어 정보는 양호하게 공중 회전 전화 교환망에 대하여 모뎀 접속을 이용하여 유저에 의해 이루어진다. 안전한 저속 제어 정보는 양호하게 공중 회선 전화 교환망에 대하여 모뎀 접속을 이용하므로서 양방향으로 지원된다.

Claims (23)

  1. 정보를 유저의 고객 구내 장비에 전달하는 고속 케이블 전송 채널들과, 유저의 고객 구내 장비로부터 유저의 요구들을 전달하며, 상기 고속 케이블 통신 채널들을 전달하는 전송 매체와는 물리적으로 구분되는 전송 매체에 의해 전달되는 저속 통신 채널들을 이용하여, 유저와 정보 서비스 제공자들간의 통신을 지원하는 원격 통신망에서, 스플릿 채널 브릿징 장치는 상기 저속 전송 채널들에서 전달된 유저의 요구를 수신하는 수단으로서, 상기 각 유저의 요구는 상기 서비스 제공자들중 한 제공자에 도달하는 수단; 상기 각 요구를 도달 서비스 제공자에게 전송하며, 상기 수신 수단과 결합한 수단; 상기 각 서비스 제공자로부터 패킷들을 나르는 적어도 한 고속 데이타 채널에서, 수신을 일치하게 지원하는 수단으로서, 각 데이타 패킷은 유저의 고객 구내 장비와 관련된 도달 어드레스를 갖는 수단; 상기 지원 수단과 결합하고, 유저들이 각 고속 케이블 전송 채널들에 의해 서비스를 제공받는 것으로 근거로 하여 상기 수신된 패킷들을 분리하는 루팅 수단; 상기 분리 수단과 결합하고, 관련 유저에 전달하기 위한 각 고속 케이블 통신 채널에서 상기 분리 패킷들을 암호화하는 변조 수단을 구비하는 것을 특징으로 하는 스플릿 채널 브릿징 장치.

  3. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 지원 수단은 상기 각 서비스 제공자들과 통신 일치를 지원하는 기능의 통신 링크에 의해 상기 서비스 제공자들과 결합하는 채널 서비스 유닛을 구비하는 것을 특징으로 하는 스플릿 채널 브릿징 장치.
  4. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 루팅 수단은 각각의 유저에 해당되는 고속 케이블 전송 채널과 각 유저의 어드레스와 상관 관계의 데이타 베이스에서의 기록에 따라 수신된 패킷들을 전달하는 루터를 구비하는 것을 특징으로 하는 스플릿 채널 브릿징 장치.
  5. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 변조 수단은 디지탈 포맷의 상기 분리 패킷들을 무선 주파수 캐리어에서 변조된 아날로그 신호들로 변환하는 변조기를 구비하는 것을 특징으로 하는 스플릿 채널 브릿징 장치.
  6. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 변조기는 대략 6메가헤르쯔의 대역폭으로 인해 케이블 텔레비젼 포맷에서 단일 6메가헤르쯔 채널을 점유하며 상기 대역폭 내의 무선 주파수 케리어상의 상기 아날로그 신호들을 변조하는 것을 특징으로 하는 스플릿 채널 브릿징 장치.
  7. 제1항에 있어서, 제1유저의 도달 어드레스를 갖는 데이타 패킷들을 전달하는 상기 고속 케이블 전송 채널들중 한 채널을 결정하는 수단과, 상기 결정 수단에 결합하며, 상기 제1유저에 대해 어드레스 지정된 데이타 패킷들을 전달하는 고속 케이블 전송 채널들중 상기 한 채널을 나타내며 상이한 고속 케이블 전송 채널들에 대하여 상기 제1유저로 데이타 패킷이 전송될 수 있도록 하는 제어 신호를 상기 제1유저에 대한 상기 저속 전송 채널들중 한 채널에 대해 전송하는 수단을 더 구비하는 것을 특징으로 하는 스플릿 채널 브릿징 장치.

  16. 제15항에 있어서, 유저에서 발생한 요구를 수신하기 위하여 유저의 고객 구내 장비와 함께 공중 회선 전화교환망에 의해 결합된 다이알 업 모뎀들을 이용하는 단계를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 통신 지원 방법.
  17. 제15항에 있어서, 상기 지원 단계는 상기 각 서비스 제공자들과 통신 일치를 지원하는 기능의 통신 링크에 의해 상기 서비스 제공자들과 결합하는 채널 서비스 유닛을 이용하는 단계를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 통신 지원 방법.
  18. 제15항에 있어서, 상기 분리 단계는 각각의 유저에 해당되는 고속 케이블 전송 채널과 각 유저의 어드레스와 상관 관계의 데이타 베이스에서의 기록에 따라 수신된 패킷들을 전달하는 루터를 이용하는 단계를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 통신 지원 방법.
  19. 제15항에 있어서, 상기 암호화 단계는 디지탈 포맷의 상기 분리 패킷들을 무선 주파수 캐리어에서 변조된 아날로그 신호들로 변환하는 단계를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 통신 지원 방법.
