Abstract

본 발명은 하드디스크드라이브의 기록용량 확장방법에 관한 것으로서, 하드디스크의 사용자 기록영역인 데이타섹터의 기록용량을 확장하여 고용량을 실현함과 동시에, 서보섹터에 기록된 서보정보를 신속하게 독출함으로써 고속화를 실현하도록 하기 위하여, 서보동기신호와 인덱스정보 및 그레이코드가 한쌍의 자화패턴을 갖도록 기록된 서보섹터를 갖는 하드디스크드라이브의 기록용량 확장방법에 있어서 : 상기 서보섹터에 기록된 서보동기신호와 인덱스정보 및 그레이코드가 데이타의 유무에 따라 각각 자화패턴 및 자화되지 않은 비자화패턴 중 어느 하나의 패턴만을 갖도록 하였다.

제3도는본 발명에 의해 하드디스크에 기록된 서보정보형태를 나타내는 도면, 제4도는 제3도에 도시된 서보 정보에 따른 하드디스크의 자화패턴을 나타내는 도면, 제5도는 본 발명에 적용된 하드디스크드라이브의 기록용량 확장 방법에 의해 하드디스크에 기록된 정보를 독출하기 위한 하드디스크드라이브의 개략적 블럭도.

Claims (5)

  1. 서보동기신호와 인덱스정보 및 그레이코드가 한쌍의 자화패턴을 갖도록 기록된 서보섹터를 갖는 하드디스크드라이브의 기록용량 확장방법에 있어서 : 상기 서보섹터에 기록된 서보동기신호와 인데스정보 및 그레이코드가 데이타의 유무에 따라 각각 자화패턴 및 자화되지 않은 비자화패턴 중 어느 하나의 패턴만을 갖도록 한 하드디스크 드라이브의 기록용량 확장방법.
  2. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 자화패턴은, 하나의 포지티브펄스 또는 하나의 네가티브펄스 중 어느 하나의 펄스 만으로 기록됨을 특징으로 하는 하드디스크 드라이브의 기록용량 확장방법.
  3. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 자화패턴은, 하나의 포지티브펄스와 하나의 네가티브펄스가 순차적으로 번갈아 기록됨을 특징으로 하는 하드디스크 드라이브의 기록용량 확장방법.
  4. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 서보동기신호를 하나의 펄스로 기록하고, 상기 서보동기신호 이후에 기록된 인덱스 정보 및 그레이코드에 데이타가 존재하면 포지티브펄스 또는 네가티브펄스 중 어느 하나의 펄스를 기록하고, 상기 서보동기신호 이후에 기록된 인덱스정보 및 그레이크드레 데이타가 존재하지 않으면 무펄스를 기록하도록 한 것을 특징으로 하는 하드디스크 드라이브의 기록용량 확장방법.
  5. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 서보동기신호를 하나의 펄스로 기록하고, 상기 서보동기신호 이후에 기록된 인덱스 정보 및 그레이코드에 데이타가 존재하면 포지티브펄스 또는 네가티브펄스를 번갈아 기록하고, 상기 서보동기신호 이후에 기록된 인데스정보 및 그레이코드에 데이타 존재하지 않으면 무펄스를 기록하도록 한 것을 특징으로 하는 하드디스크 드라이브의 기록용량 확장방법.
