Abstract

본 발명은 개선된 연마성/내충격성을 갖는 탄화금속 지지된 다결정성 다이아몬드(PCD) 콤팩트, 및 고온/고압(HT/HP) 가공 조건하에서의 상기 콤팩트의 제조 방법에 관한 것이다. PCD콤팩트는 미크론 이하 크기의 다이아몬드 입자와 큰 크기의 다이아몬드 입자의 혼합물을 가짐을 특징으로 한다.

개선된 성질을 갖는 연마용 콤팩트의 제조 방법

도3은 0.5μ의 평균 입자 크기를 갖는 다이아몬드 입자 5%와 10 내지 45μ범위의 입자 크기(평균 입자 크기 약 28μ)를 갖는 다이아몬드 입자 95%의 혼합물로부터 제조된 소결된 PCD콤팩트의 현미경사진이다.

Claims (10)

  1. (a) (i) 미크론 이하 크기의 다이아몬드 입자 및 큰 크기의 다이아몬드 입자의 혼합물을 포함하는 다이아몬드 입자 덩어리; 및 (ii) 상기 다이아몬드 입자 덩어리에 인접 배치된 접착된 탄화금속 지지층(탄화금속 입자를 포함한다)을 포함하는 반응쎌 조립체를 제공하는 단계; 및 (b) 상기 반응쎌 조립체에, 상기 다이아몬드 입자 덩어리를 다결정성 다이아몬드(PCD) 콤팩트층내로 소결시키고 상기 PCD 콤팩트층을 상기 접착된 탄화금속 지지층에 결합시키기에 유효하도록 선택된 HT/HP조건을 가하는 단계를 포함함을 특징으로 하는 탄화 금속 지지된 다결정성 다이아몬드 콤팩트의 고압/고온(HP/HT) 제조 방법.
  2. 소결된 PCD 콤팩트층; 및 상기 PCD 콤팩트층에 결합된 접착된 탄화금속 지지층(탄화금속 입자를 포함한다)을 포함하고 상기 소결된 PCD 콤팩트층이 미크론 이하 크기의 다이아몬드 입자 및 큰 크기의 다이아몬드 입자의 혼합물을 가짐을 특징으로 하는 탄화금속 지지된 PCD 콤팩트.
  3. 제 2 항에 있어서, 상기 미크론 이하 크기의 다이아몬드 입자가 약 0.01 내지 약 1μ범위의 입자 크기를 갖는 탄화금속 지지된 PCD 콤팩트.
  4. 제 3 항에 있어서, 상기 미크론 이하 크기의 다이아몬드 입자가 약 0.05μ내지 약 1μ범위의 입자 크기를 갖는 탄화금속 지지된 PCD 콤팩트.
  5. 제 2 항에 있어서, 상기 큰 크기의 다이아몬드 입자가 약 6 내지 약 100μ범위의 입자 크기를 갖는 탄화금속 지지된 PCD 콤팩트.
  6. 제 5 항에 있어서, 상기 큰 크기의 다이아몬드 입자가 약 10 내지 약 100μ범위의 입자 크기를 갖는 탄화금속 지지된 PCD 콤팩트.
  7. 제 6 항에 있어서, 상기 큰 크기의 다이아몬드 입자가 약 40 내지 약 100μ범위의 입자 크기를 갖는 탄화금속 지지된 PCD 콤팩트.
  8. 제 2 항에 있어서, 상기 소결된 PCD 콤팩트층이 약 2 내지 약 15 중량%의 미크론 이하 크기의 다이아몬드 입자를 포함하는 탄화금속 지지된 PCD 콤팩트.
  9. 제 8 항에 있어서, 상기 소결된 PCD 콤팩트층이 약 2 내지 약 8 중량%의 미크론 이하 크기의 다이아몬드 입자를 포함하는 탄화금속 지지된 PCD 콤팩트.
  10. 제 9 항에 있어서, 상기 소결된 PCD 콤팩트층이 약 4 내지 약 8 중량%의 미크론 이하 크기의 다이아몬드 입자를 포함하는 탄화금속 지지된 PCD 콤팩트.
