Claims (12)
- 데이타의 비휘발성 저장(non-volatile storage)에 적합하며 상기 저장 데이타가 외부 설비에 의해 판독될 수 있도록 배치된 데이타 저장부(3)를 구비한 카드형(card-like)메모리 장치에 있어서, 상기 데이타 저장부(3)가 상기 카드형 메모리 장치의 제1액정 영역을 구비하고, 상기 카드형 메모리 장치가 사용자에 대한 데이타 표시에 적합하게 배치된 상기 카드형 메모리 장치의 제2액정 영역에 의해 구성된 표시부(2)를 더 구비하는 것을 특징으로 하는 카드형 메모리 장치.
- 제1항에 있어서, 상기 제1 및 제2액정 영역(3,2)이 제1 및 제2대향 기판(이들 기판중 최소한 하나는 투명함)(4,10) 사이에 배치된 강유전성 액정 층(7), 및 상기 기판(4,10)과 결합되어 상기 액정 층에 전기장을 인가하는 전극 배열(5,9)을 구비하는 것을 특징으로 하는 카드형 메모리 장치.
- 제2항에 있어서, 상기 전극 배열이 각각 상기 액정층(7)이 삽입되어 있는 상기 기판(4,10)의 대향 표면상에 제공된 전극(5,9)을 구비하는 것을 특징으로 하는 카드형 메모리 장치.
- 제2항 또는 제3항에 있어서, 상기 제2액정 영역과 결합된 상기 전극 배열이 매트릭스 구조를 한정하는 것을 특징으로 하는 카드형 메모리 장치.
- 제2항 또는 제3항에 있어서, 상기 카드형 메모리 장치의 상기 제1액정 영역(3)의 전극 배열에 접속 되어 외부 데이타 판독 장치로부터 전기 신호(electrical signals)를 수신하는 한쌍의 단자(5',9')를 더 구비하는 것을 특징으로 하는 카드형 메모리 장치.
- 제5항에 있어서, 상기 단자가 상기 카드형 메모리 장치의 상기 데이타 저장부(3)의 동작에 필요한 전기적 파워 신호 및 제어 신호를 수신하도록 배치되는 것을 특징으로 하는 카드형 메모리 장치.
- 제2항 또는 제3항에 있어서, 상기 제1 및 제2액정 영역이 동일한 강유전성 액정 물질로 이루어지는 것을 특징으로 하는 카드형 메모리 장치.
- 제2항 또는 제3항에 있어서, 상기 각각이 액정 영역이 상기 기판(4,10)의 대향 표면상에 제공된 한쌍의 방향(orientation) 제어막(6,8)을 더 구비하되, 이 제어막중 하나는 폴리이미드(polyimide)로 형성되고 다른 하나는 SiO2로 형성되는 것을 특징으로 하는 카드형 메모리 장치.
- 제2항 또는 제3항에 있어서, 상기 카드형 메모리 장치의 상기 액정 저장 및 표시 영역(2,3)에 접속된 집적 회로를 더 구비하는 것을 특징으로 하는 카드형 메모리 장치.
- 제9항에 있어서, 상기 카드형 메모리 장치에 전원을 공급하는 태양 전지를 더 표함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 카드형 메모리 장치.
- 제2항 또는 제3항에 있어서, 상기 데이타의 가시적 표시가 문자, 기호, 또는 기타 다른 모양의 형태를 취하는 것을 특징으로 하는 카드형 메모리 장치.
- 제2항 또는 제3항에 있어서, 상기 제1액정 영역(3)이 비트 피치 간격으로 분할된 돌출부923)를 갖도록 형성되는 것을 특징으로 하는 카드형 메모리 장치.
