본 발명은 자동차엔진 및 그 냉각방법에 관한 것으로서, 라디에이터(15)에서 냉각된 냉각수가 서모스탯(17) 및 워터펌프(11)에 의하여 엔진(1) 내부의 실린더블록워터재킷 및 실린더헤드워터재킷(7,9)을 거쳐 라디에이터(15)로 순환되는 자동차엔진의 냉각방법에 있어서, 엔진 내부의 냉각수가 소정의 온도가 되면 냉각수가 라디에이터(13)로부터 실린더헤드(5)에 형성된 유입로(33)를 따라 유입되어 흡기부워터재킷(29)을 통과하면서 실린더헤드흡기부(21)를 냉각시키는 제1단계와, 상기 실린더헤드흡기부(21)를 통과한 냉각수가 하향통로(35)를 따라 실린더블록워터재킷(7)으로 유입되어 제1워터재킷부(7a)와 제2워터재킷부(7b)를 순차적으로 통과하면서 실린더블록(7)을 냉각시키는 제2단계와, 상기 실린더블록(7)을 통과한 냉각수가 상향통로(39)를 따라 유입되어 배기부워터재킷(31)을 통과하면서 실린더헤드배기부(23)를 냉각시키고 유출로(41)를 따라 유출되어 워터펌프(11)에 의하여 라디에이터(13)로 압송되는 제3단계로 구성되는 것을 특징으로 하여, 엔진의 전체적인 구조를 변경하지 않으면서도 실린더헤드흡기부 선행냉각방식을 적용하여 엔진 내부를 균일하게 냉각하여 엔진 내부의 온도편차를 줄임으로써 냉각성능을 향상시킬 수 있고, 실린더헤드흡기부의 온도를 하강시켜 흡기효율을 향상시킬 수 있다.The present invention relates to an automobile engine and a cooling method thereof, wherein a coolant cooled in a radiator (15) is a cylinder block water jacket and a cylinder head water jacket in an engine (1) by a thermostat (17) and a water pump (11).
