Abstract

Multiple conductive terminals 16 are received in the passageway. Each terminal includes a surface mount tail 50 that protrudes from the rear contact surface of the housing that includes a contact portion 52 that is elastically coupled to a suitable circuit trace 18 on the substrate. The contacts are located in a long coplanar arrangement. Mounting arms 46 are provided at each end of the housing to mount the connector on the surface of the substrate. The pair of rectangular mounting pegs 54 protrude from the tangent mounting surface of each mounting arm. Each pair of pegs provides an interference fit in a corresponding mounting hole 56 in the circuit board to "hang over" the long array of contacts and to hold the connector to the substrate during processing.
