컴퓨터그래픽모드에서의 한글, 한자 표시를 위한 폰트롬 리드회로

본 고안은 컴퓨터의 그래픽모드에 있어서 한글, 한자의 재현을 위해 중앙처리장치로부터 폰트롬을 읽기위한 회로에 관한 것이다.
일반적으로 컴퓨터에서 영문을 그래픽하는 경우 문자체(FONT) 수가 적으므로 문자체를 롬에 저장하여 영구적으로 갖고 있으면서 사용할 수 있으나 한글, 한자를 완성형으로 표현하는 경우 문자체의 데이타양이 표준에서 4메가비트 정도의 롬을 사용해야 할 만큼 많으므로 시스템에서 이를 가지고 있기에는 어려울 뿐만 아니라 디스플레이회로에 있는 문자체를 필요할 때마다 중앙처리장치가 읽어서 사용하여 재현속도가 지연되며 이때 폰트롬의 크기는 500킬로바이트 정도이므로 통상의 어드레싱 방식으로는 많은 어려운 문제점이 발생하게 된다.
따라서 본 고안은 상기와 같은 문제점을 해결하기 위하여 안출된 것으로 표준 한글, 한자의 완성형을 4메가비트롬에 저장하고 중앙처리장치에서 액세스(access)하되, 중앙처리장치와 폰트롬의 어드레스영역이 일치하지 않으므로 폰트롬부 부분에는 별도의 래치회로로서 롬내부를 16킬로바이트 단위의 뱅크(Bank)로 나누어 어드레싱 함으로서 그래픽모드에서 한글, 한자를 표시하기 위한 롬리드회로를 제공하고자 하는 데 본 고안의 목적이 있는 것이다.
이하 첨부된 도면에 의해 상세히 설명하면 다음과 같다.
제1도에서와 같이 중앙처리장치(1)와 음극선관제어부(2)의 신호를 멀티플렉서(3)로서 구분케하고 상기 멀티플렉서(3)의 일측 출력단에는 비디오버퍼회로(5)와 폰트롬(6)의 칩셀렉터()() 단자에 접속함과 동시에 멀티플렉서(3) 타측출력단은 비디오버퍼회로(5)의 리드라이트단자 및 인버터(7)를 거쳐 폰트롬(6)의 리드, 라이트단자로 연결하며 멀티플렉서(3)의 또다른 출력단은 비디오버퍼회로(5)에 접속하는 한편 중앙처리장치(1)의 16킬로바이트내에서 어드레스를 선택하는 라인은 폰트롬(6)에 직접 전송하고 뱅크를 결정하는 어드레스라인은 래치회로(4)를 통하여 폰트롬(6)에 전달하되 상기 폰트롬(6)의 출력데이타를 비디오버퍼회로(5)에 인가하여서된 것이다.
상기와 같은 구성으로 이루어진 본 고안의 작용효과를 설명하면 다음과 같다.
한글표준으로 제정된 완성형약 1600자의 코드를 보면 표현가능한 한글한자는 16킬로바이트를 넘지 않으면 한글자당 32비이트의 데이타에 저장되어 512킬로바이트가 필요하므로 최소한 4메가 비트롬을 사용해야 한다.
이때 어드레싱공간은 512킬로바이트이므로 통상 1메가 바이트를 넘지않은 16비트 퍼스널컴퓨터의 어드레싱방식으로 어려우며 또한 아이. 비. 엠 퍼스널컴퓨터(IBM PC)의 경우 화면과 관련하여 640킬로비트에서 1메가비트 사이의 영역을 사용할 수 있으며 이 영역에 비디오 관련부분이 있다.
특히, 칼라그래픽 어댑터일 경우 B 8 부터 16킬로비트부분이 비디오버퍼회로(5)를 구동할 수 있도록 되어 있어 이 부분을 사용할 수 있다.
비디오버퍼회로(5)는 라이트오운리(WRITE ONLY)이므로 라이시에는 비디오버퍼회로(5)를, 리드(READ)시에는 폰트롬(6)을 액세서하여 저장된 한글 또는 한자를 읽을 수 있도록 한 것이다.
즉, 제2도에서 보는 바와같이 4메가비트 폰트롬(6)에 표준 제정된 완성형 한글이나 또는 한자의 데이터를 512킬로바이트내에 16킬로바이트로 32개의 뱅크로 나누어 저장한다.
이러한 상태에서 중앙처리장치(1)로부터 특정문자를 디스플레이 시키기 위해 신호를 출력하게 되면 멀티플렉서(3)를 경유하여 비디오버퍼회로(5)와 폰트롬(6)의 칩셀렉터단자()()에 인가되어 동작 상태로 만들며 또한 멀티플렉서(5)의 다른 "하이" 출력신호는 비디오버퍼회로(5)의 리드, 라이트단자로 인가됨과 동시에 인버터(7)를 통하여 "로우"로 전환시켜 폰트롬(6)의 리드, 라이트단자에 각각 인가됨으로서 폰트롬(6)에 저장된 특정문자를 읽을 수 있도록 하고 이를 음극선관제어부(2)에 의해 비디오버퍼회로(5)에서 음극선관에 표시할 수 있는 준비상태에 있게 된다.
이때 중앙처리장치(1)에서는 표시하고자 하는 문자를 지정하기 위해 래치회로(4)에 폰트롬(5)내에 해당문자가 있는 32개의 뱅크중 하나의 상위어드레스를 지정하는 한편 뱅크내의 찾고자하는 문자의 시작 어드레스를 설정하여 폰트롬(6)에 직접 전송하게 된다. 따라서 중앙처리장치(1)는 폰트롬(6)의 특정 뱅크와 지정된 어드레스에 해당되는 데이타를 계속 읽어들이고 저장한 후 재현하고자 하는 문자가 저장된 32바이트의 카운터가 완료되면 멀티플렉서(3)를 통하여 비디오 버퍼회로(5)로 전송함으로서 폰트롬(5)에 메모리된 특정문자를 중앙처리장치(1)의 명령에 의해 디스플레이 되는 것이다.
이상에서 상술한 바와 같이 본 고안은 4메가비트롬에 16킬로바이트가 32개의 뱅크로 나눈뒤 이의 각 뱅크에 한글, 한자 표준 완성현 문자 및 글자를 32바이트내에 저장한 후 재현하고자 하는 문자를 중앙처리장치(1)에서 래치회로(4)를 통해 지정된 문자가 저장된 32개의 뱅크중 하나를 선택하고 선택된 뱅크내에 기억되어 있는 해당문자를 지정하는 어드레스를 폰트롬(6)에 직접 전송토록 하여 16비트 퍼스널컴퓨터의 칼라그래픽모드에서 중앙처리장치(1)의 일부 영역으로서 4메가비트의 폰트롬(6)에 저장된 한글 및 한자데이타를 읽을 수 있도록 하는 유용한 고안인 것이다.

  1. 중앙처리장치(1)와 음극선관제어부(2)의 신호를 멀티플렉서(3)로서 구분케하고 상기 멀티플렉서(3)의 일측출력단에는 비디오버퍼회로(5)와 폰트롬(6)의 칩셀렉터()()단자에 접속함과 동시에 멀티플렉서(3) 타측 출력단은 비디오버퍼회로(5)의 리드, 라이트단자 및 인버터(7)를 거쳐 폰트롬(6)의 리드라이트단자로 연결하며 멀티플렉서(3)의 또다른 출력은 비디오버퍼회로(5)에 접속하는 한편 중앙처리장치(1)의 16킬로바이트내에서 어드레스를 선택하는 라인은 폰트롬(6)에 직접 전송하고 뱅크를 결정하는 어드레스라인은 래치회로(4)를 통하여 폰트롬(6)에 전달하되 상기 폰트롬(6)의 출력데이타를 비디오버퍼회로(5)에 인가하여서된 것을 특징으로 하는 컴퓨터그래픽모드에서의 한글, 한자 표시를 위한 롬리드회로.
