Abstract

본 발명은 액정표시소자(LCD:KIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY)에 관한 것으로서, 상부기판과 하부기판 상의 내면에 각각 ITO 전극을 형성한 다음, 상기 전극상에 배향막을 형성하고, 상기 상부기판과 하부기판의 외면에 편광판이 각각 형성되며, 이와같이 형성된 대향된 상하부기판 사이에 액정이 수평 배향되고 상기한 전극에 인가되는 전압의 유무에 따라 트위스트 하는 것에 의해 소정 패턴이 나타나는 액정표시소자에 있어서, 상기한 상하부 기판의 외면과 편광판 사이에 구동용 LCD의 트위스트 방향과 반대로 즉, 고분자가 층상으로 수직 배향되어 트위스트된 형태의 가볍고 얇은 위상차판을 적어도 하나 부착시킴으로써 종래 LCD패널의 경우, 구동용 LCD의 트위스트 방향과 반대방향으로 트위스트된 보상용 LCD를 사용하여 착색을 제거하거나, 또는 고분자 수지로 된 위상차판을 사용하여 착색을 제거할시에 발생될수 있었던 문제점 즉, 표시품질 저하와 그에 따른 콘트라스트 감소 및 휘도 저하등을 개선할 수 있는 액정표시소자를 실현할 수 있다.BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION 1.
