좌우 측벽판을 저판으로 연결한 U형 실드기 본체를 그 추진방향에 대해 다수로 분할하고, 각 분할체 상호의 후단과 전단을 끼우고, 이 분할체의 좌우측벽판의 내측에서 후방을 향해 추진잭을 배치한 오픈 쉴드기를 사용하는 것이며, 쇼벨 등의 굴착기로 최전방부의 분할체의 전면 또는 상면으로부터 토사를 굴착하며 또한 배토하는굴착배토 공정과, 이 굴착배토 공정과 동시 또는 그 후에 최전방부의 분할체의 추진잭을 신장시켜 그 후방의 분할체 및 기설의 콘크리트 함체를 반력으로 하여 최전방부의 분할체를 전진시키고, 계속해서 그 다음의 분할체 또 그 다음 분할체를 마찬가지로 추진잭을 신장시켜 그 후방부의 분할체 및 기설의 콘크리트함체를, 혹은 기설의 콘크리트함체를 반력으로 하여 전진시키며, 이와같이 쉴드기 본체의 각분할체를 전진시키는 전진공정과, 최후방부의 분할체의 테일부에서 기설 콘크리트함체 앞에 새로운 콘크리트함체를 매달아 내리는 콘크리트함체의 세트공정을 적절하게 반복하여, 순차적으로 콘크리트함체를 쉴드기 본체의 전진에 따라 종열로 지중에 설치하고 이 콘크리트함체의 상면에 되메우기를 실시하여 지하 구조체를 시공하는 것을 특징으로 하는 오픈쉴드공법.The U-shaped shield main body which connects the left and right side wall plates with the bottom plate is divided into a plurality of the propulsion directions, and the rear end and the front end of each divided body are inserted, and the propulsion jack is moved from the inner side of the left and right side wall plates to the rear side of the divided body.
