Abstract

The ship steering simulator utilized a ship dynamic model including external forces which affect the motion of a ship and interfacing techniques with a controller and external circumstances to simulate the motion of a ship. The simulator includes a steering stand (7) for inputting steering data into the simulator, an engine control unit (6) for controlling an engine of a sheep, a tug and a thruster controller (8) for including a tug and a thruster into a simulation, an analog to digital converter (5) for converting analog data generated by the controllers (6,7,8) to digital signal, a monitor (1) for displaying simulation result and a digitizer (9) for easily constructing database of underwater topography of ports.
