Abstract
1384668 Aircraft simulators SINGER CO 30 May 1973 [18 July 1972] 25748/73 Heading B7W A display panel for indicating control member position and control forces in a flight simulator comprises an instrument 11 which is representative of a vertical view of a pilot's control column and has a vertical box 13 and a horizontal bar 15 the intersection of which bars represents the top of the column, the base of the column being shown by dot 17, and, adjoining instrument 11, an indicator 19 in which marker 23 moving over a linear scale represents elevator force, and a further indicator 21 of similar construction representing aileron force. An indicator 27 with a rotatable needle 29 represents rudder pedal position and a linear scale instrument 31 represents rudder force. The drive system for each control is essentially the same and in that, 43, Fig. 3, for the rudder, movement of rudder 45 will result in a force output from transducer 47 which is amplified at 49 and force divided by mass is integrated at 51 to obtain velocity which is then integrated in integrator 53 to provide a position signal. The force output is taken from amplifier 49 and both force and position outputs are scaled in a block 55, which may be in the simulator computer or may be a summing amplifier having the required scaling resistors. The force output on line 57 is directed to meter 31 which has a meter movement coil 59 and an adjustment potentiometer 61. The position output is directed to indicator 27 which similarly has meter coil 63 and potentiometer 65. The aileron system block 67 and elevator system block 69 will be identical to rudder block 43 and the meter movements of the indicators 11, 19 and 21 are similar to those of indicators 27 and 31.
