제1도는 본 발명에 따른 성능 측정 장치(PMD)의 개략도.

Claims (13)

  1. 통신 패킷 스위칭 네트워크의 제1 및 제2가입자 위치 사이에 있는 최소한 하나의 통신로에 대한 성능 측정장치(PMD)로서, 테스트 패킷을 발생하고 그 테스트 패킷을 상기 통신로를 거쳐 상기 스위칭 네트워크를 통하여 전송하기 위한 테스트 패킷 발생수단(VCG)과 상기 스위칭 네트워크로부터 상기 테스트 패킷을 수신하여 상기 통신로의 성능 특성을 측정하기 위한 패킷 분석기 수단(DBA)을 포함한 성능 측정 장치(PMD)에 있어서, 상기 테스트 패킷 발생수단(VCG)은 상기 제1가입자 위치에 위치된 라이프 트랙픽 소스로부터 데이타 통신 패킷을 수신하고 상기 라이프 패킷을 상기 테스트 패킷으로 변형하도록 구성된 것을 특징으로 하는 성능 측정 장치.
  2. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 테스트 패킷 발생 수단(VCG), 상기 패킷 분석 수단(DBA) 및 상기 라이프 트래픽 소스는 모두 상기 스위칭 소자에 접속된 것을 특징으로 하는 성능 측정 장치.
  3. 제2항에 있어서, 라이프 패킷들은 상기 라이프 트래픽 소스로부터 상기 스위칭 네트워크를 거쳐 상기 테스트 패킷 발생수단(VCG)에 수신되는 것을 특징으로 하는 성능 측정 장치.
  4. 제2항에 있어서, 상기 라이프 트래픽 소스와 상기 테스트 패킷 발생 수단(VCG)사이에 결합된 패킷 스위칭 수단(SE)을 추가로 포함하고, 상기 패킷 스위칭 수단은 패킷들을 수신하여 이 패킷들을 이 패킷들에 기억된 소정의 파라메터들에 따라 상기 테스트 패킷 발생 수단(VCG)와 상기 스위칭 네트워크의 어느 하나에 전송하도록 구성된 것을 특징으로 하는 성능 측정 장치.
  5. 제2항에 있어서, 상기 패킷 분석기 수단(DBA)은 라이프 트래픽 소스와 상기 테스트 패킷 발생 수단(VCG)사이에 결합되고, 패킷들을 수신하고 라이프 패킷들로부터 테스트 패킷들을 인식하며, 라이프 패킷들을 상기 테스트 패킷 발생 수단(VCG)에 전송하도록 구성된 것을 특징으로 하는 성능 측정 장치.
  6. 제5항에 있어서, 상기 테스트 패킷 발생 수단(VCG)은 상기 패킷 분석기 수단(DBA)으로부터 수신된 각각의 라이프 패킷들에 대하여 하나의 테스트 패킷을 제공하는 것을 특징으로 하는 성능 측정 장치.
  7. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 각 패킷은 상기 스위칭 네트워크를 통하여 상기 패킷의 목적지를 나타내는 루팅 정보를 기억하는 헤더와 데이타 필드를 구비하는 것을 특징으로 하는 성능 측정 장치.
  8. 제6항 또는 제7항에 있어서, 상기 테스트 패킷 발생 수단(VCG)에 의해 제공된 상기 테스트 패킷의 데이타 필드는 성능 측정 데이타를 기억하는 것을 특징으로 하는 성능 측정 장치.
  9. 제6항 또는 제7항에 있어서, 상기 테스트 패킷 발생수단(VCG)에 의해 제공된 테스트 패킷의 헤더는 상기 패킷 분석기 수단(DBA)으로부터 수신된 대응하는 라이프 패킷의 헤더와 최소한 부분적으로 동일한 것을 특징으로 하는 성능 측정 장치.
  10. 제4항 또는 제7항에 있어서, 상기 소정의 파라메터들은 상기 패킷의 헤더에 기억되어 있는 것을 특징으로 하는 성능 측정 장치.
  11. 제4항에 있어서, 상기 패킷 분석기 수단(DBA)은 상기 패킷 스위칭 수단(SE)과 상기 테스트 패킷 발생 수단(VCG) 사이에 결합되고, 상기 수신된 테스트 패킷의 데이타 필드에 기억된 성능 측정 데이타의 함수로서 상기 성능 특성을 측정하도륵 구성된 것을 특징으로 하는 성능 측정 장치.
  12. 제9항에 있어서, 상기 패킷 분석기 수단(DBA)을 상기 패킷 스위칭 수단(SE)과 상기 테스트 패킷 발생 수단(VCG)사이에 결합되고, 상기 수신된 테스트 패킷의 데이타 필드에 기억된 성능 측정 데이타의 함수로서 상기 성능 특성을 측정하도록 구성된 것을 특징으로 하는 성능 측정 장치.
  13. 통신 패킷 스위칭 네트워크틀 통하여 테스트 패킷을 송신함으로써 상기 스위칭 네트워크의 최소한 하나의 통신 경로의 성능 특성을 측정하는 방법에 있어서, 상기 테스트 패킷은 라이프 트래픽의 라이프 데이타 통신 패킷이고 그 통신 데이타를 성능 측정 데이타에 의해 교체되는 것을 특징으로 하는 측정 방법.
