텔레비젼이나 컴퓨터 모니타용 브라운관 패널 외주에는 밴드를 감아 체결하여 브라운관이 외부에서 충격을 받아도 쉽게 폭발하지 않도록 하고 있다. 이 방폭밴드는 브라운관에 체결되기 전에 미리 원하는 형상으로 즉 패널 외주의 윤곽과 일치하여 들뜨는 부분이 없도록 성형하는 바, 이를 위하여 종래에는 제 3 도에 도시된 바와 같이 하나의 고정된 기판금형(1)위에 두쪽으로 된 가동금형(2)(2)을 한 방향으로만 슬라이딩 가능하게 설치하여 가동금형(2)(2')을 한 방향으로만 슬라이등 가능하게 설치하여 가동금형(2)(2)이 서로 접근해 있는 상태에서 방폭밴드를 가동금형 외주에 위치시키고 제 4 도에서와 같이 가동금형(2)(2)사이에 쇄기(3)를 박아 누르면 가동금형이 좌우로 밀려나 방폭밴드에 신장력을 가하도록 하였다. 그러나 이와 같은 종래의 금형은 가동금형이 한 방향 즉 길이방향으로만 밀려나도록 되어 있어 방폭밴드에도 길이방향에 치중하여 신장력이 작용하는 경향이 있었다.A band is wound around the CRT panel for TV and computer monitors to prevent the CRT from exploding easily even when it is impacted from the outside.
