Abstract
Triacetoneamine(I) was prepd. in>=8.5% yield by treating acetonin with Me2CO in the presence of >=12.5mole% acid catalyst. The catalyst may be an acetonin salt, ammonium salt, amine salt, or a mineral or org. acid. Thus 6.1g triacetoneamine was obtained by treating 6.7g acetonin with 20ml Me2Co and 2.4g NH4Cl at 60≰C for 10hr.
