An image forming apparatus and a control method thereof are provided to automatically detect whether a corresponding document is stored at a memory by scanning identification information of a document a user intends to print out. An image forming apparatus comprises a scanning unit(110), a storing unit(120), a control unit(130), a printing unit(140) and a control panel(150).
