Abstract

A drum brake for a vehicle is provided to increase the contact area between a web and a piston and an anchor block of a wheel cylinder contacting the web, and to thereby easily transmit a driving force and prevent stress concentration. A drum brake for a vehicle includes a drum(1) rotated with wheels and a pair of brake shoes(21,22) disposed at inner sides of the drum. The brake shoes are manufactured by attaching a lining(3) to generate frictional force to an outer surface of a semi-circular rim(4) to correspond to the inner shape of the drum, and a web(5) is coupled with the inner surface of the lining to reinforce the rim. The webs of the brake shoes are mounted to a back plate(2) fixed to a knuckle unit of the vehicle by a coupling device(12) to reciprocate within a predetermined distance so that the webs closely contact or are separated from the inner surface of the drum. A wheel cylinder(10) is installed to generate braking force by pushing the brake shoes toward the inner surface of the drum. An anchor block(6) is installed to the lower sides of the webs to support the brake shoes.
