In general, piping flanges used in offshore plants have a high leakage rate. In the case of piping with high pressure fluid, the scattering of fluids in the flanges not only physically damages surrounding operators, but also causes volatile fluids to leak If it is scattered, the vaporization is accelerated and the explosion risk is caused.
In particular, if toxic or flammable liquid leaks through the flange, it may be necessary to prevent scattering and to collect and isolate the leaked liquid to protect the operator and the workplace from further hazards. It is most desirable to fundamentally prevent leakage from the flange. However, in a situation where it is practically impossible, the reduction of the scattering phenomenon in the case of the flange leakage contributes to the improvement of the safety of the operator.
