Abstract

PURPOSE: Provided is an apparatus for detecting fracture of a chain of a sludge collector for preventing abnormal operation of the sludge collector while it is broken by detecting abnormal condition of a chain of a sludge collector using a standard detection device installed on a flight of a chain. CONSTITUTION: In a sludge collector with frames(2) fixed on the wall of a sedimentation tank by anchor bolts(3), a guide rail(4) attached on the top end portion of the frames(2), and a plurality of flights(6) being connected to a chain and traveling on the guide rain(4) for collecting sludge floating on the surface of water, the apparatus comprises a standard detection device(7) attached on the top end of the flight(6), an angle(8) fixed on the wall of the sedimentation tank by anchor bolts(9) above the flight(6), a supporting bar(10) attached on an end portion of the angle(10), a sensor clear(11) attached on and end portion of the supporting bar(10), a proximity switch(12) attached on the other end portion of the supporting bar(10), a first auxiliary relay for generating a signal when the standard detection device(7) approaches to the proximity switch while being mounted on the flight(6) and sending the signal to a timer, the timer for starting count of the time after receiving the signal from the first auxiliary relay, and a second auxiliary relay for generating a signal when the timer counts beyond a predetermined time for informing an operator of abnormal condition of the sludge collector.
