Abstract

PURPOSE: A system for operating and configuring an AAL2/5 conversion unit for the improvement of transmission efficiency in interoffice connection in IMT-2000 service is provided to reduce the quantity of logics for AAL2/5 conversion. CONSTITUTION: A system for operating and configuring an AAL2/5 conversion unit(2) for the improvement of transmission efficiency in interoffice connection in IMT-2000 service consists of a conversion control unit(1), the AAL2/5 conversion unit(2), a system access unit(3), and a transmission line access unit(4). The conversion control unit(1) issues a speech path control command for the transmission of subscriber information according to a radio subscriber's conversion address request generated from the AAL2/5 conversion unit(2) or a subscriber transmission request received from the transmission line access unit(4), and manages and monitors the state of information transfer. The AAL2/5 conversion unit(2) receives a conversion control command from the conversion control unit(1), makes the transmission line access unit(4) establish a speech path, and executes an AAL2/5 conversion processing function. The system access unit(3) receives AAL5-type data according to the control of the conversion control unit(1) and transfers the received data to the AAL2/5 conversion unit(2). The transmission line access unit(4) executes a function to establish an appointed speech path according to the command of the conversion control unit(1).

IMT-2000 시스템에서는 기지국,제어국 및 교환국 내에서는 AAL5를 통한 각종 데이타 처리가 이루어 진다. 그러나 기지국과 제어국,제어국과 교환국 사이에 AAL5를 통한 각종 데이타 전송은 회선 사용상 비효율성을 가져온다. 그 예로 AAL5를 통한 데이타 전송이 이루어질 경우 상기에서 언급했듯이 데이타 바이트가 48 바이트인 관계로 데이타양이 적은 음성데이타(9~13바이트)인 경우 1셀에 실어 전송하는 경우 빈 바이트가 생겨도 전송 해야 하는 비효율이 있다. 즉 AAL5인 경우 1셀에 48바이트의 데이타를 다 채우지 못하더라도 전송하여야 하는 비합리성(1가입자만 수용)을 가져왔다. 이에 종래기술에서는 소프트 웨어적으로만 AAL2/2'으로 변환함으로써 사용하여 왔으나 2'(2 prime)이 규격화가 안되어 있으므로 시스템 내부의 규격화가 불리 할 뿐만 아니라 2prime 처리의 디바이스도 없고 속도도 늦은 상황이다. 또한 ITU-T(International Telecommunic-ation Union Telecommunication Standardization Sector;국제 전기 통신 연합 전기 통신 표준화 부문)의 약어. 통신 테크놀로지와 관련된 전세계적인표준을 개발하는 국제 단체.
