Abstract

현제의 조건적인 액세스 시스템들은 서비스를 액세스하기 위해 아래의 권한들, 즉
구독(서비스에 액세스를 부여하는 권한)
페이-퍼-뷰(pay-per-view)(이벤트에 액세스를 부여하는 권한)
임펄스-페이-퍼-뷰(impulse-pay-per-view)(국부적으로 발생된 페이-퍼-뷰 권한)
페이-퍼-타임(서비스에 액세스를 부여하는)을 위해 제공한다.
구독 및 페이-퍼-뷰는 소위 미리 예약된 권한들이다. 구독자는 이러한 권한을 얻기 위해 정상적으로 텔레비전을 이용하여 서비스 제공자에 접촉할 필요가 있다. 구독자는 미리 또는 나중에 요금을 지불할 수 있다. 이는 물론 구독자의 예상된 해결가능성 및 좋은 통신선들, 즉 메일 또는 전화기의 공급에 의존할 수 있다.
임펄스 페이-퍼-뷰는 국부적으로 발생된 권한이다. 구독자가 서비스 공급자와 접촉하지 않고 최종적으로 선택들을 하도록 한다. 하지만, 선택들은 텔레비전에 의해 나중에 정상적으로 서비스 공급자에게 되돌아가 알려진다. 구독자가 요금청구를 받게 되고, 이는 전화선의 공급 및 구독자가 지불할 것이라는 기대를 요구한다.

본 발명은 업링크(uplink) 시스템에서 데이터 콘텐트 소스로부터 전송된 데이터에 대한 앤드-유저들(end-users)의 수신기들의 액세스를 제어하기 위한 조건적인 액세스 시스템에 관한 것으로, 상기 업링크 시스템은 콘텐트 소스로부터 공급된 콘텐트를 스크램블하기 위한 스크램블러(scrambler), 제어 워드(word)와 권한 식별(entitlement identification))을 포함하는 권한 제어 메시지들을 발생시키기 위한 권한 제어 메시지 발생기 및 스크램블된 콘텐트와 권한 제어 메시지들을 전송하기 위한 전송기를 포함하며, 액세스 시스템에서 디스크램블러, 권한 제어 메시지 복호기 및 권한들을 기록하기 위한 수단이 수신기에 연관되어 있으며, 액세스 시스템에서, 권한 제어 메시지 내의 권한 식별과 저장된 권한 사이에 정합이 존재하면, 권한 제어 메시지 복호기는 수신기가 권한을 부여받은 수신된 스크램블 콘텐트의 일부를 디스크램블하기 위한 디스크램블러에 제어 워드를 공급한다.

본 발명의 목적은 더 많은 유저 영향이 허용되는 상술한 종류의 조건적인 액세스 시스템을 제공하는 것이다.

종래의 조건적인 액세스 시스템은 제안된 콘텐트 아이템에 대한 액세스를 제어하기 위한 권한 제어 메시지들 및 앤드-유저에서 구입한(bought) 권한들을 저장하기 위한 권한 취급(management) 메시지들을 이용한다.
조건적인 액세스 시스템에서, 여러 권한들이 존재한다.
구독 권한은 서비스(들)(의 범위)에 액세스를 제공하는 반면, 페이-퍼-뷰(PPV)-권한은 제한된 구독 권한으로서 고려된다.
도 1에 도시된 바와 같이 조건적인 액세스 시스템의 업링크 시스템(1)은 이벤트 수 발생기(3) 및 제어 워드 발생기(4)가 접속되는 입력들에 ECM 발생기(4)를 포함한다. 업링크 시스템(1)은 또한 출력이 스크램블러(6)에 접속되는 콘텐트 소스(5)를 포함한다.
앤드-유저 위치에 수신기(7)가 제공되고, 디스크램블러(8)를 포함한다. 또한, 앤드-유저 위치에서 안전 모듈(9)이 제공된다.

  8. 제 1항에 따른 조건적인 액세스 시스템에 적합한 수신기에 있어서, 디스크램블러, 권한 제어 메시지 복호기 및 권한들을 저장하기 위한 수단을 포함하며, 상기 앤드-유저의 메타-권한을 수신하고 저장하기 위한 수단이 제공되며, 상기 메타-권한은 이벤트 수 영역을 포함하고, 또한 상기 앤드-유저에 의해 선택된 상기 이벤트를 포함하는 실제 권한 식별을 상기 메타-권한으로부터 추출하기 위한 수단이 더 제공되고, 그 후에, 상기 권한 제어 메시지에서 상기 권한 식별이 상기 실제 권한과 매치하면 상기 권한 제어 메시지로부터의 제어 워드가 상기 스크램블러에 공급되는, 조건적인 액세스 시스템에 적합한 수신기.
