Abstract

PURPOSE: A short protection circuit for DC-DC converter is provided to simplify circuit configuration by using diode and resistance. CONSTITUTION: A short protection circuit(100) comprises a diode(D1) connected in parallel between an output port having relatively lower output voltage and an output port having relatively higher output voltage and which applies current to the output port having relatively higher voltage; and a resistances(Rc) connected between the cathode of the diode and the output port having relatively higher output voltage so as to control the size of the current being applied through the diode. When a short occurs in a DC-DC converter, the current from the output port having relatively lower output voltage is fed to the output port having higher output voltage, through the diode and the resistance, thus driving the short protection circuit for the DC-DC converter.

Description

Circuit for protecting short of DC-DC converter}Circuit for protecting short of DC-DC converter

The present invention relates to a short protection circuit of a DC-DC converter. More particularly, when a short occurs in a DC-DC converter having multiple output stages, a current applied to each output stage is transferred into the DC-DC converter. The present invention relates to a short protection circuit of a DC-DC converter applied to a short protection circuit to protect the circuit.

In general, a DC-DC converter refers to a device for converting a DC voltage by converting a direct current into an alternating current, and then rectifying by stepping up or down a transformer.

In the DC-DC converter, a short protection circuit operated by the current of the output stage to protect the circuit during the short circuit of the DC-DC converter is embedded in the chip, but the short protection operation was not performed because the current of the output stage was insufficient.

Thus, a short protection circuit as shown in Fig. 1 is additionally installed at the output terminal of the DC-DC converter.

The short protection circuit 10 includes a PNP transistor TR1 connected and switched between a + 20V rectified power supply terminal and a + 20V output terminal of a DC-DC converter, and a resistor R1 for adjusting a voltage applied to the PNP transistor TR1. R2).

The reason that the short protection circuit 10 is provided is that although the short protection circuit is provided in the PWM IC, the current of the output terminal is insufficient to perform an accurate short protection operation. Thus, the PNP transistor TR1 and the resistor R1, R2) enables short protection operation.

First, when the DC-DC converter is shorted, the + 20V rectified power drops to + 15V, which is the Vcc voltage. As a result, the voltage between the base and emitter of the PNP transistor TR1 becomes coincidence and the PNP transistor TR1 is turned off. To protect the circuit. Here, the PNP transistor TR1 serves as a switch to block the current charge of + 20V.

However, since the conventional short protection circuit is composed of a transistor and a resistor, the circuit becomes complicated when the circuit is added, and there is a problem in that the short protection circuit built in the DC-DC converter cannot be efficiently used.

Accordingly, an object of the present invention for solving the above problems is to simply configure the short protection circuit using only a diode and a resistor to simplify the circuit, and efficiently use the short protection circuit built in the DC-DC converter. It's about doing it.

When a short occurs in the DC-DC converter, a current of an output terminal having a low output voltage is supplied to the output terminal having a high output voltage through the diode and a resistor to drive a short protection circuit of the DC-DC converter.

Therefore, when a short occurs in a DC-DC converter having a plurality of output stages, a circuit may be protected by applying a current applied to each output stage to a short protection circuit in the DC-DC converter.

Hereinafter, the configuration and operation of the short protection circuit of the DC-DC converter according to the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings.

Referring to FIG. 2, the short protection circuit 100 includes a diode D1 and a resistor Rc.

The diode D1 is applied between the + 12.5V output terminal and the + 20V output terminal to drive a short protection circuit (not shown) in the DC-DC converter by applying a current of the + 12.5V output terminal to the + 20V output terminal when a short occurs in the DC-DC converter. Is connected in parallel.

The resistor Rc is connected between the diode D1 and the + 20V output terminal to adjust the magnitude of the current applied through the diode D1.

Hereinafter, the operation of the short protection circuit of the DC-DC converter according to the present invention will be described in detail with reference to FIG. 2.

First, when a short occurs in the DC-DC converter, a current applied to the + 12.5V output terminal is applied to the + 20V output terminal through the diode D1 and the resistor Rc.

Then, the current applied to the + 20V output stage and the current applied at the + 12.5V output stage are combined with each other and applied to the short protection circuit in the DC-DC converter to drive the short protection circuit to prevent damage to the circuit due to the short.

Therefore, when a short occurs in the DC-DC converter using a short protection circuit with a simple configuration, it is possible to protect the circuit component from the overcurrent generated by the short.

As described above, according to the short protection circuit of the DC-DC converter according to the present invention, the following advantages occur.

The short protection circuit is simply configured using only a diode and a resistor, which simplifies the circuit and efficiently uses the short protection circuit built in the DC-DC converter.
