Abstract

PURPOSE: A method for retrieving channels of a digital TV set, is provided to automatically retrieve channels according to the preference of a viewer, when operating the channel retrieving key of a remote controller. CONSTITUTION: Preference data inputted by a viewer is studied and stored. When the viewer operates a channel retrieving key while viewing the TV, the channel is converted into another channel and then data are received. The received data are compared with the stored preference data, to accordingly process signals. If data related to the preference data is received as the result of the comparison, whether to display the received data is inquired. If so, a channel receiving preference data is displayed in a display circuit. If not, a corresponding channel number is displayed in a viewer interface circuit. The preference data can be replaced with reference data, statistically analyzing preference data in a predetermine time zone selected by the viewer, or with reference data according to an electronic program guide(EPG) operation.
