As can be seen from Table 5 and FIG. 4, the formulation containing 0.05% by weight of stearyl dimethicone showed only a slight improvement in softness but the formulation with 0.1% by weight or more significantly increased the softness. On the other hand, a formulation containing more than 10% by weight of stearyl dimethicone showed a tendency that too much amount of hair remained in the hair and the softness of the hair in the wet state was rather reduced. Therefore, it is preferable that the content of the alkyl dimethicone of the present invention is in the range of 0.1 to 10% by weight in order to enhance the softness of the hair.
