Abstract
본 발명은 매우 낮은 농도의 비제올라이트 재료를 포함하는 제올라이트 촉매를 사용하고 외부 부분에서 중앙으로 감소하는 결정도의 구배 및 0.6 cc/g 이상의 침입 기공 용적을 특징으로 하는 탄화수소-전환 공정을 포함한다. 촉매는 에틸벤젠 전환을 포함한 크실렌-이성체화 공정에 특히 효과적이다.

제올라이트는 여러 가지 유형의 탄화수소 전환 공정, 예컨대 이성체화, 개질, 수소화, 알킬화, 트랜스알킬화, 분해 및 수소화분해를 위한 촉매로서 광범위하게 사용된다. 추가적으로, 제올라이트 재료는 흡착제로서 여러 가지 석유 및 화학 분리 공정에 사용된다. 촉매작용 또는 분리의 선택성은 결정질 알루미노실리케이트의 망상체에 의해 형성된 간극 공간 또는 채널에 의해 부여된다. 제올라이트는 또한 실리카 및 알루미나 부분이 전부 또는 일부 다른 산화물로 대체된 재료를 포함할 수 있는데; 산화게르마늄, 산화주석, 및 이의 혼합물은 실리카 부분을 대체할 수 있고 산화갈륨, 산화인듐, 산화붕소, 산화철, 및 이의 혼합물은 알루미나 부분을 대체할 수 있다.
순수 제올라이트의 실제 사용은 기계적 강도 제한으로 인해 엄격하게 제한된다. 기계적 강도는 비제올라이트 결합제의 존재 하에서 제올라이트를 형성하고 생성된 압출형 환제, 구체, 또는 압출물을 건조 및 하소시킴으로써 부여될 수 있다. 상기 결합제의 예는 재료, 예컨대 알루미나, 실리카, 티탄, 및 여러 가지 유형의 점토를 포함한다. 하지만, 활성, 선택성, 또는 활성 유지의 측면에서 결합 제올라이트의 유효성은 감소될 수 있는데 그 이유는 결합제가 제올라이트의 흡착 특성을 희석시키기 때문이다. 추가적으로, 결합 제올라이트가 결합제로 제올라이트를 압출시키고 이어서 압출물을 건조 및 하소시킴으로써 제조되기 때문에, 비정질 결합제는 제올라이트의 기공을 관통하거나, 그렇지 않은 경우 제올라이트의 기공에 대한 출입을 차단하거나, 또는 제올라이트의 유효성을 감소시킬 수 있는 제올라이트의 기공으로의 물질 전달 속도를 서행시킬 수 있다. 추가로, 결합 제올라이트가 촉매 공정에 사용되는 경우, 결합제는 제올라이트 내부에서 발생하는 화학 반응에 영향을 미칠 수 있고 또한 불필요한 생성물의 형성을 초래할 수 있는 불필요한 반응을 촉진시킬 수도 있다.
제올라이트 촉매의 주요 용도는 C8 방향족의 전환에서 개별 크실렌 이성질체를 얻는 것이다. 크실렌, 파라-크실렌, 메타-크실렌 및 오르쏘-크실렌은, 화학적 합성에서 광범위하고 다양하게 사용되는 중요한 중간체이다. 산화시 파라-크실렌은 합성 방직 섬유 및 수지의 제조에 사용되는 테레프탈산을 생성한다. 메타-크실렌은 가소화제, 아조 염료, 목재 보존제 등의 제조에 사용된다. 오르쏘-크실렌은 프탈산 무수물 생성을 위한 공급원료이다.
석유 나프타의 접촉 개질은 C8 방향족의 중요한 공급원이다. 접촉 개질 또는 다른 공급원으로부터의 C8 방향족 중 크실렌 이성질체는 일반적으로 화학적 중간체로서 요구되는 비율에 부합하지 않고, 분리 또는 전환이 어려운 에틸벤젠을 추가로 포함한다. 특히 파라-크실렌은 수요가 급증하고 있는 주요 화학적 중간체지만, 그 양은 통상적인 C8-방향족 스트림의 15∼20%에 불과하다. 파라-크실렌 회수를 위한 흡착과 같은 크실렌-이성질체 회수와 이성체화를 병행하여 목적하는 이성질체의 추가량을 생성함으로써 이성질체 비율을 수요에 맞게 조정할 수 있다. 이성체화는 목적하는 크실렌 이성질체가 결핍된 크실렌 이성질체의 비평형 혼합물을 평형 농도에 육박한 혼합물로 전환시키는 것이다. 사용되는 평형에 육박한다는 것은 높은 전환에서의 높은 C8 순환 손실(즉, 평형에 대해 매우 근접하게 육박한 것)과 미전환된 C8 방향족의 높은 재순환 비율로 인한 높은 효용성 비용 사이에서 최적화된 절충을 갖는다는 것이다.
C8 방향족의 전환 공정은 대개는 크실렌 이성질체와 관련된 에틸벤젠의 전환 방식에 의해 구분된다. 에틸벤젠은 크실렌으로 쉽게 이성체화되지 않지만, 초정류(superfractionation) 또는 흡착에 의한 크실렌으로부터의 분리는 매우 비용이 많이 들기 때문에 공정 유닛에서 전환시키는 것이 일반적이다. 하나의 접근 방법은 에틸벤젠을 반응시켜 수소화-탈수소화 작용을 갖는 고체 산 촉매의 존재 하에 나프텐으로의 전환 및 나프텐으로부터의 재전환을 통해 크실렌 혼합물을 형성시키는 것이다. 광범위하게 사용되는 대안적인 접근 방법은 에틸벤젠을 탈알킬화하여 원칙적으로 벤젠을 형성하고, 그 동안 크실렌을 근-평형 혼합물로 이성체화시키는 것이다. 전자 접근 방법은 에틸벤젠으로부터 크실렌을 형성함으로써 크실렌 수율을 향상시키는 것이고; 후자 접근 방법은 통상 더 높은 에틸벤젠 전환을 유도함으로써, 파라-크실렌 회수 유닛에 대한 재순환 양과 수반되는 가공 비용을 낮추는 것이다.
수소는 일반적으로 전환 공정 반응물 내에 존재하여 반응을 돕고 촉매 안정성을 유지시킨다. 크실렌은 비용 절감을 유도하는 일부 상황 하에서 수소의 부재 하에 이성체화될 수 있지만, 에틸벤젠 전환은 수소의 존재를 필요로 하는 것이 일반적이다. 일부 경우에는 높은 전환율 및 에틸벤젠 수율을 얻기 위해 2-단계 가공 유닛이 정당화될 수 있다. 어떤 경우에든, 더욱 효과적인 촉매 및 공정에 대한 연구는 계속된다.
본 발명의 주요 목적은 탄화수소의 전환에 효율적인 신규 촉매를 제공하는 것이다. 더욱 구체적으로는, 본 발명은 방향족 손실이 감소되고 가공 비용이 절감되는 바람직한 크실렌 이성질체의 농도를 증가시키기 위한 알킬방향족 탄화수소의 전환 공정, 및 특히 C8 방향족의 가공 공정을 포함한다.
본 발명은 크실렌의 이성체화와 관련된 에틸벤젠의 전환이 특정한 특성의 다공성 및 결정도 구배를 갖는 결합제 불포함 제올라이트를 포함하는 촉매에 의해 실시될 수 있다는 발견을 기초로 한다.

본 발명의 결합제 불포함 구체형 제올라이트 입자는 높은 촉매 활성과 탄화수소의 전환, 특히 방향족 탄화수소의 전환에 대한 선택성을 특징으로 한다. 본 발명의 촉매를 포함하는 제올라이트의 예는 문헌[Atlas of Zeolite Framework Types, 6th Revised Edition, C.H. Baerlocher, L.B. McCusker, and D.H. Olson, editors, Elsevier (2007)]에 기술된 골격 유형으로서 Si:Al2의 비율이 10 초과, 및 종종 20 초과하는 것, 예컨대 MFI, MEL, EUO, FER, MFS, MTT, MTW, TON, MOR 및 FAU 유형의 제올라이트를 포함한다. 펜타실 제올라이트, 예컨대 MFI, MEL, MTW 및 TON이 바람직하며, MFI-유형 제올라이트, 예컨대 ZSM-5, 실리칼라이트, 보로라이트 C, TS-1, ZSM-12, SSZ-25, PSH-3, 및 ITQ-1이 특히 바람직하다.
본 발명의 바람직한 촉매의 제조는 우선 알루미늄 및 규소의 반응 혼합물의 형성을 포함한다. 알루미늄의 공급원은 비제한적 예로서 알루미늄 알콕시드, 침전 알루미나, 알루미늄 금속, 알루미늄 염 및 알루미나 졸을 포함한다. 알루미늄 알콕시드의 특정 예는, 비제한적 예로서, 알루미늄 sec-부톡시드 및 알루미늄 오르쏘 이소프로폭시드를 포함한다. 실리카의 공급원은, 비제한적 예로서, 테트라에틸오르쏘실리케이트, 콜로이드성 실리카, 침전 실리카, 알칼리 실리케이트, HiSil 및 Ultrasil을 포함한다. Si/Al의 비율은 3∼100, 바람직하게는 8∼50 범위일 수 있다.
본 발명의 범위 내에서 상기 기술된 제올라이트, 또는 하기 기술된 구조 지향제가 비교적 소량으로 존재하지만, 실리카-알루미나 혼합물은 실질적으로 상기 재료를 함유하지 않는 것이 바람직하다.
바람직한 방법은 당업계에 잘 공지된 수단에 의한 비정질 실리카-알루미나의 제조를 포함한다. 예를 들면, 참고 인용된 US 3,909,450에 제시된 절차가 사용될 수 있다. 이 절차는 환류 온도에서 염산 수용액에서 알루미늄을 분해시켜 소정의 알루미늄/클로라이드 비율을 갖는 졸을 형성함으로써 알루미늄 졸을 제조하는 단계를 포함한다. 상기 알루미늄 졸을, 예를 들어 물 유리(water glass)의 산성화에 의해 제조된 규소 졸과 혼합시킨다. 겔화제, 예컨대 헥사메틸렌테트라아민, 우레아 또는 이의 혼합물을 첨가하고 졸 혼합물을 고온 유조에서 액적으로서 분산시키고, 이때 타원형 입자가 형성되도록 겔화가 발생한다. 겔화제는 졸 액적의 pH를 증가시켜, 액적을 겔화시킨다. 이러한 졸-겔 공정은 알루미나 및 실리카를 굳히게 된다. 오일 적하 방법과 관련된 추가의 상세한 사항은 참고 인용된 미국 특허 번호 2,620,314에서 찾아볼 수 있다.
상기 절차는 구체 형태의 비정질 실리카-알루미나 조성물을 제공하지만, 비정질 실리카-알루미나는 각각 마감된 촉매의 형태에 상응하는 한 압출물, 불규칙 형상의 입자, 환제 또는 정제와 같은 임의의 형태일 수 있다. 상기 기술된 바와 같이 제조된 구체를 사용하는 것이 특히 바람직하다.
유조로부터 구체를 연속적으로 빼내고 통상 오일 및 암모니아 수용액에서 특정한 숙성 및 건조 처리하여 본 발명의 촉매를 실시한다. 그리고나서 생성된 숙성되고 겔화된 입자를 세척하고 90℃∼150℃의 비교적 저온에서 건조시키고 1∼20시간 동안 400℃∼700℃의 온도에서 하소 절차를 실시한다. 이것은 비정질 실리카-알루미나 조성물을 제공한다. 이러한 비정질 실리카-알루미나 조성물은 0.3∼0.5 g/cc의 자명한 벌크 밀도 및 0.4∼1.0 cc/g의 기공 용적을 갖는다는 점에서 특성화된다.
촉매는 바람직하게는 결합제를 불포함하는데, 즉 촉매는 마감된 촉매의 형태를 가능하게하는 불활성 성분의 실질적인 존재 없이 탄화수소-전환 공정에 적당한 형태를 포함한다. 존재하는 경우, 그러한 성분은 촉매의 질량을 기준으로 50 질량% 미만, 바람직하게는 10 질량% 미만, 가장 바람직하게는 7 질량% 미만과 같이 소량으로 존재한다. 임의의 불활성 성분은 바람직하게는 미리 형성된 구체의 결정화로부터의 미전환된 재료를 포함한다.
결합제 불포함 촉매는, 예컨대 비정질 또는 결정질 실리카 및 알루미나 또는 비정질 실리카 알루미나 산화물 공급원을 포함하는 압출물 또는 구체형 입자로부터 제조된다. 광화제, 예컨대 아민, 수산화나트륨 및/또는 플루오르화나트륨, 테트라알킬 암모늄 수산화물 또는 브롬화물, 바람직하게는 2∼5개의 탄소 원자를 함유하는 알킬 기, 및 물이 또한 실리카 및 알루미나 성분을 결합제 불포함 알루미노실리케이트 제올라이트 입자로 전환시키는 데 필요하다. 광화제 및 물은 형성 공정 동안 구체형 입자 또는 압출물 내에 혼입될 수 있거나, 또는 용액, 복수의 용액, 스팀, 증기 또는 이의 임의의 조합으로서 나중에 첨가될 수 있다. 시드, 핵 형성제, 및/또는 구조 지향제가 또한 소량으로 첨가될 수 있지만, 일반적으로는 필요없고/없거나 이의 사용을 피할 수 있다. 그리고나서 생성된 생성물을 경우에 따라 공기 중 10∼40시간 동안 400∼550℃의 온도에서 하소시켜 테트라알킬암모늄 양이온을 제거할 수 있다.
생성물은 추가 처리되어 알루미늄을 제거하고 경우에 따라 규소를 삽입함으로써 Si/Al의 비율을 증가시키고 이로 인해 제올라이트의 산성 및 이온 교환 특성을 변형시킬 수 있다. 이러한 처리는 a) 플루오로실리케이트 용액 또는 슬러리와의 접촉; b) 하소 또는 증열처리 후 산 추출 또는 이온 교환; c) 산 추출 또는 d) 임의 순서로 상기 처리의 임의의 조합을 포함한다.
본 발명의 촉매는 상당히 높은 마크로다공성 및 높은 침입 용적을 특징으로 하며, 이는 촉매 내에 메소기공 및 마크로기공의 존재를 특징으로 하는 수은 용적의 침입에 상응하는 수은 침입 다공도측정법에 의한 촉매의 기공 용적 분포를 측정하는 ASTM D4284 표준 테스트 방법에 따라 측정된다. 입자 침입 기공 용적은 일반적으로 0.60 cc/g 이상, 바람직하게는 0.65 cc/g 이상, 더욱 바람직하게는 0.70 cc/g 초과이다. 이러한 특징은 제올라이트를 결합시킴으로써 제조된 촉매와 비교하였을 때 C8-방향족 혼합물에서 에틸벤젠의 높은 전환을 유도한다.
결정도 구배는 바람직하게는 주사 전자 현미경법("SEM")에 의해 결정된다. 국부 결정도의 SEM 결정은 촉매 입자의 상으로부터의 3개 이상의 샘플 입자에서 실시된다. 샘플은 당업자에게 공지된 기법에 의해 상으로부터 선택된다. SEM 데이타에는 입자의 직경에 관련된 위치에 대한 결정도를 기준으로 촉매 입자 내 임의의 한 지점의 결정도가 제시된다. 구배 측정은 3개 이상의 촉매 입자의 제시된 수준에서 구배의 평균으로 실시되고, 이는 결정도의 상대 비교를 하기에 유용하다. 입자 결정도 구배는 결정도의 비율에 있어 결정도가 10∼50 중량%인 저-결정도 내부 부분에서 결정도가 90∼100 중량%인 고-결정도 외부 부분으로 증가하고; 내부 부분은 입자 용적의 50%를 포함할 수 있다. 이러한 구배는 비정질 중앙에 걸쳐 제올라이트의 외층을 갖는 촉매와 대조된다.
도 1에는 본 발명의 구배를 입증하기 위해 절편화된 본 발명의 입자가 도시된다. 입자의 외부 부분에는 높은 정도의 결정도가 보이지만, 중심부에는 몇 안되는 결정체만이 보인다. 결정체의 비율은 외부 부분에 대한 관찰 이동에 따라 증가한다.
본 발명의 촉매는 바람직하게는 VIII족(IUPAC 8-10), VIB족(IUPAC 6), 및 VIIB족(IUPAC 7) 금속에서 선택된 하나 이상의 금속을 포함하는 금속 성분을 함유한다. 백금, 팔라듐, 로듐, 루테늄, 오스뮴, 및 이리듐 중 하나 이상을 포함한, 백금족 금속 중 하나 이상은 본 발명의 촉매에 특히 유리한 성분이다. 바람직한 백금족 금속은 백금 및 팔라듐이며, 백금이 특히 바람직하다. 백금족 금속 성분은 산화물, 황화물, 할로겐화물, 산황화물 등과 같은 성분으로서, 또는 원소 금속으로서 또는 촉매 복합재 중 하나 이상의 다른 성분과의 조합으로 최종 촉매 복합재 내에 존재할 수 있다. 실질적으로 모든 백금족 금속 성분이 환원 상태로 존재하는 경우 최선의 결과가 얻어지는 것으로 여겨진다. 백금족 금속 성분은 일반적으로 원소 기준으로 계산된 10∼5000 질량-ppm(백만분율)의 최종 촉매 복합재를 포함하며, 100∼2000 질량-ppm의 수준이 특히 적당하다. 백금 성분을 사용하는 경우, 원소 기준으로 200∼800 질량-ppm 수준의 촉매 상 백금이 유리하며; 200∼500 질량-ppm의 수준이 특히 유리하다.
수소화 금속 성분은 임의의 적당한 방식으로 촉매 복합재 내에 혼입될 수 있다. 촉매를 제조하는 하나의 방법은 수소화 금속의 수용성, 분해가능한 화합물을 이용하여 하소된 체/결합제 복합재를 함침시키는 것을 포함한다.
본 발명의 범위 내에서 촉매 복합재는 레늄, 주석, 게르마늄, 납, 코발트, 니켈, 인듐, 갈륨, 아연, 우라늄, 디스프로슘, 탈륨, 및 이의 혼합물 중 하나 이상과 같은 금속 개질제를 추가로 포함할 수 있다. 상기 금속 개질제의 촉매적 유효량은 당업계에 공지된 임의의 수단에 의해 촉매에 혼입되어 균일한 또는 층상 분포를 실시할 수 있다.
대안적인 구체예에서, 촉매는 분산되고, 선택적으로 황화된 레늄 성분을 포함할 수 있다. (원소 금속으로서 계산된) 레늄은 촉매의 0.05∼5, 바람직하게는 0.4∼4, 질량의 양으로 존재하고 황 대 레늄의 원자 비율은 0.2:1 내지 0.7:1, 바람직하게는 0.25:1 내지 0.5:1이다. 대안 촉매의 제1 황화는 바람직하게는 황화 조건 하에 상당히 묽은 황화 기체를 사용하여, 당업계에 공지된 바와 같이 예를 들어 0.5 hr-1 이상의 중량 시간당 공간 속도 및 100℃ 이상의 온도에서 촉매 상에 황 함유 기체를 이송시킨다. 환원 조건은 산화 성분의 실질적인 부재 하에 탄화수소 및 수소 중 하나 이상의 존재에 의해 제공될 수 있다. 황화 기체는 자주 5000 미만, 더욱 바람직하게는 500 미만, 몰 기준 백만분율(ppm-mole)의 황을 함유한다.
본 발명의 촉매는 불소, 염소, 브롬 또는 요오드 또는 이의 혼합물을 포함하는 할로겐 성분을 함유할 수 있고, 염소가 바람직하다. 하지만, 바람직하게는 촉매는 다른 촉매 성분과 관련된 것 이외에 첨가 할로겐을 함유하지 않는다.
촉매 복합재는 바람직하게는 2∼24 이상의 시간 동안 100℃∼320℃의 온도에서 건조된다. 필요에 따라, 촉매는 0.1∼10시간 동안 대기에서 400℃∼650℃의 온도로 하소될 수 있다. 스팀은 또한 하소 동안, 예컨대 공기 기준으로 0.5∼20, 즉 1∼10, 몰%의 스팀이 존재할 수 있다. 촉매가 소량의 백금족 금속을 함유하는 경우, 생성된 하소된 복합재에는 종종 실질적으로 물-불포함 환원 단계를 실시하여 선택적 금속성 성분의 균일하고 비분된 분산을 보장한다. 환원제는 존재하는 경우 실질적으로 모든 백금족 금속 성분을 금속성 상태로 환원시키기에 효과적인, 200℃∼650℃의 온도 및 0.5∼10시간 동안을 포함하는 조건에서 촉매와 접촉된다.
크실렌의 이성체화와 함께 C8-방향족 혼합물에서 에틸벤젠의 효율적 전환은 본 발명의 촉매의 특히 바람직한 응용이다. 바람직한 방향족-전환 공정에 대한 공급원료는 비평형 크실렌 및 에틸벤젠을 포함한다. 이러한 방향족 화합물은 비평형 혼합물 내에 있는데, 즉 하나 이상의 C8-방향족 이성질체는 이성체화 조건에서의 평형 농도와 실질적으로 다른 농도에서 존재한다. 따라서, 비평형 크실렌 조성물은 크실렌 이성질체 중 1개 또는 2개가 다른 크실렌 이성질체(들)에 비해 평형 비율 미만으로 있는 경우에 존재한다. 평형 비율 미만의 크실렌은 파라-, 메타- 및 오르쏘-이성질체 중 임의의 것일 수 있다. 파라- 및 오르쏘-크실렌에 대한 수요가 메타-크실렌에 대한 수요보다 많기 때문에, 통상 공급원료는 메타-크실렌을 함유한다. 일반적으로, 혼합물은 1∼60 질량%의 에틸벤젠 함량, 0∼35 질량%의 오르쏘-크실렌 함량, 20∼95 질량%의 메타-크실렌 함량 및 0∼30 질량%의 파라-크실렌 함량을 갖는다. 통상, 비평형 혼합물은 방향족-제조 공정에서 얻은 새로운 C8 방향족 혼합물로부터 파라-, 오르쏘- 및/또는 메타-크실렌을 제거함으로써 제조된다. 공급원료는 비제한적 예로서 나프텐 및 비순환성 파라핀뿐만 아니라, 더 높고 더 낮은 분자량 방향족을 포함한 다른 성분을 함유할 수 있다.
알킬방향족 탄화수소는, 예를 들어 개별 성분으로서 또는 접촉 분해된 또는 개질된 탄화수소의 선택적 분별 및 증류에 의해 얻은 특정한 비등 범위 유분으로서 여러 가지 정제 석유 스트림으로부터의 적당한 유분에서 찾을 수 있는 바와 같이 본 발명에서 사용될 수 있다.
본 발명의 공정에 따라, 바람직하게는 수소와 혼합된 알킬방향족 탄화수소 공급물 혼합물은 알킬방향족 탄화수소 전환 구역에서 본 발명의 촉매와 접촉한다. 접촉은 고정상 시스템, 이동상 시스템, 유동상 시스템에서, 또는 뱃치형 조작에서 촉매를 사용하여 실시될 수 있다. 유용한 촉매의 소모 손실의 위험성 및 더 간단한 조작의 관점에서, 고정상 시스템을 이용하는 것이 바람직하다. 이 시스템에서, 수소-농후 기체 및 공급물 혼합물은 목적하는 반응 온도로 적당한 가열 수단에서 예열된 후 고정상 촉매를 함유하는 전환 구역으로 이송된다. 사이에 적당한 수단을 갖는 하나 이상의 개별 반응기에서 전환이 실시되어 목적하는 전환 온도가 각 구역의 입구에서 유지되는 것을 보장할 수 있다.
반응물은 상향-, 하향-, 또는 방사 흐름 방식으로 촉매 상과 접촉될 수 있고, 반응물은 촉매와 접촉될 경우 액상, 혼합 액체-증기 상, 또는 증기상으로 존재할 수 있다. 반응물은 바람직하게는 일부 또는 전부 증기상으로 존재한다.
알킬방향족 공급물 혼합물, 바람직하게는 C8 방향족의 비평형 혼합물은 적당한 알킬방향족-전환 조건에서 전환 촉매와 접촉한다. 그러한 조건은 100℃∼600℃ 이상 범위의 온도를 포함하고, 바람직하게는 340℃∼500℃의 범위 내에 있다. 압력은 일반적으로 100 kPa∼10 MPa, 더욱 일반적으로는 5 MPa 이하이다. 전환 구역 내에 충분한 촉매가 함유되어 0.5∼100 hr-1, 바람직하게는 2∼50 hr-1의 탄화수소 공급물 혼합물과 관련된 질량 시간당 공간 속도를 제공하고; 적어도 10 hr-1 이상의 질량 시간당 공간 속도에서 유리한 결과를 얻었다. 탄화수소 공급물 혼합물은 0.05:1 내지 10:1 이상, 바람직하게는 0.05 이상의 수소/탄화수소 몰비에서 수소와 혼합되어 최적으로 반응되고; 불활성 희석물, 예컨대 질소, 아르곤 및 경질 탄화수소 또한 존재할 수 있다.
통상 전환 조건은 공급물 스트림 내 에틸벤젠이 50% 이상, 바람직하게는 60∼90% 전환되기에 충분하다. 본 발명의 공정은 에틸벤젠으로부터 에틸 라디칼을 높은 정도로 제거하여 톨루엔 및 중질 알킬벤젠 부산물이 적게 형성되는 것을 특징으로 한다. 일반적으로 전환 조건은 크실렌 평형에 도달하는 것을 유도하지 않는다. 전환 공정은 일반적으로 에틸벤젠 전환율(%)에 대하여 크실렌 손실율(%)이 0.025 미만, 바람직하게는 0.02 미만이도록 에틸벤젠을 전환시킨다.
본 발명 내에서 알킬방향족 탄화수소 공급물 혼합물은 전환 구역 이후 후속 크실렌-이성체화 구역에서 순차적으로 2개 이상의 촉매와 접촉되어 본 발명의 목적을 실현한다. 상기 2-촉매 시스템은 효율적인 에틸벤젠 전환 이후 저-에틸벤젠 C8-방향족 혼합물의 효율적인 크실렌 이성체화를 통해 특히 효과적이다. 접촉은 고정상 시스템, 이동상 시스템, 유동상 시스템, 슬러리 시스템, 비등상(ebullated-bed) 시스템의 촉매 시스템을 사용하는 구역에서 또는 뱃치 유형 조작에서 실시될 수 있지만, 두 구역에서 고정상 시스템을 사용하는 것이 바람직하다. 제1 전환 구역은 바람직하게는 상기 기술된 바와 같이 에틸벤젠을 전환시키는 것 뿐만 아니라 크실렌을 이성체화시키는 것에 효과적인 조건에서 조작되는 본 발명의 촉매를 함유한다. 제1 전환 구역은 중간체 스트림을 생성하고, 추가 가공없이 중간체 스트림의 적어도 일부, 바람직하게는 전체 중간체 스트림은 이성체화 촉매를 함유하는 제2 전환 구역에서 접촉된다. 이성체화 구역은 단일 반응기 또는 사이에 적당한 수단을 갖는 2개 이상의 개별 반응기를 포함하여 크실렌 평형에 대한 접근이 향상될 수 있다. 2개의 촉매는 바람직하게는 동일한 반응기 내에 함유된다.
이성체화 구역은 바람직하게는 크실렌 이성체화에 특히 효과적인 촉매를 함유하고, 에틸벤젠은 제1 구역에서 전환된다. MFI, MEL, EUO, FER, MFS, MTT, MTW, TON, MOR 및 FAU 유형에서 선택되고, 이 중 펜타실 제올라이트 MFI 및 MTW가 바람직한 공지된 제올라이트 알루미노실리케이트를 포함하는 이러한 목적에 효과적인 임의의 촉매가 사용될 수 있다. 반응물은 액상, 혼합된 액체-증기 상, 또는 증기 상에서 제2 촉매와 접촉할 수 있다. 조작 조건은 일반적으로 본 발명의 촉매에 대해 상기 기술된 범위 내에 있으며, 200℃∼400℃ 범위의 더 낮은 온도는 상기 기술된 상한 범위의 파라-크실렌 비율을 실현하기에 바람직하다.
반응기의 유출물로부터의 단리된 생성물을 회수하는 데 사용된 특정한 방법은 본 발명에 중요한 것으로 간주되지 않고, 당업계에 공지된 임의의 효율적인 회수 방법이 사용될 수 있다. 통상, 전환 생성물은 분별되어 경질 부산물, 예컨대 알칸, 나프텐, 벤젠 및 톨루엔, 및 중질 부산물이 제거됨으로써 C8 이성질체 생성물을 얻는다. 중질 부산물은 디메틸에틸벤젠 및 트리메틸벤젠을 포함한다. 일부 예에서, 특정한 생성물 종, 예컨대 오르쏘-크실렌 또는 디메틸에틸벤젠은 선택적 분별에 의해 이성질화된 생성물로부터 회수될 수 있다. C8 방향족의 전환으로부터의 생성물을 통상 가공하여 경우에 따라 결정화에 의해 파라-크실렌 이성질체를 선택적으로 회수할 수 있다. 선택적 흡착은 US 3,201,491에 따라 결정질 알루미노실리케이트를 사용하는 것이 바람직하다. 바람직한 흡착 회수 공정 내 개선 및 대안은 본원에 참고 인용된 US 3,626,020, US 3,696,107, US 4,039,599, US 4,184,943, US 4,381,419 및 US 4,402,832에 기술되어 있다.
실시예
하기 실시예는 본 발명의 일정한 특정 구체예에 대한 것으로만 제시되며, 처구 범위에 제시된 본 발명의 범위를 한정하는 것으로 이해해서는 안된다. 본 발명의 취지 내에서 당업자가 인식하는 바와 같이 수많은 가능한 다른 변화예가 존재한다.
실시예 1
본 발명의 제1 촉매를 다음과 같이 제조하였다: 125 ㎖ 테플론 라이너 내에서, 11.8 g의 프로필아민 및 4.0 g의 10% NaCl 수용액을 혼합하였다. 이 혼합물에, Si/Al2 비율이 80인 8.0 g의 하소된 오일 적하된 구체를 첨가하고 액상에 의해 전체적으로 커버하였다. 그리고나서 테플론 라이너를 Parr 반응기에 적재하고 10일 동안 175℃로 가열하였다. 실온으로 냉각시킨 후, 구체를 여과하고 탈이온수로 세척하였다. 하소된 촉매 입자는 x선 회절에 의해 70% MFI를 함유하였다. 111 g의 하소된 생성물을 0.08 g의 테트라아민백금 클로라이드 및 9.41 g의 NH4NO3을 함유하는 200 ㎖ 수용액에 함침시켜 촉매를 마감한 후 100℃에서 증발시켜 마감된 촉매 입자 상에 0.04 질량%의 최종 백금 수준을 생성하였다. 그리고나서 함침된 샘플에, US 7,939,701의 실시예 1에 기재된 바와 같이, 2-단계 하소 및 88℃ 암모늄 이온 교환을 실시한 후 480℃ 산화 및 4시간 425℃ 환원을 실시하였다. 촉매는 0.718 cc/g의 ASTM D4284 침입 용적 및 220 ppm의 백금 함량을 갖고 이를 촉매 A로서 지정하였다.
실시예 2
본 발명의 제2 촉매를 다음과 같이 제조하였다: 125 ㎖ 테플론 라이너 내에서, 15 g의 부틸아민 및 10 g의 20% NaCl 수용액을 혼합시켰다. 이 혼합물에, Si/Al2이 40인 12 g의 하소된 오일 적하된 구체를 첨가하고 액상에 의해 전체적으로 커버하였다. 그리고나서 테플론 라이너를 Parr 반응기에 적재하고 10일 동안 175℃로 가열하였다. 실온으로 냉각시킨 후, 구체를 여과하고 DI수로 세척하였다. 하소된 촉매 입자는 x선 회절에 의해 50% MFI를 함유하였다. 111 g의 하소된 생성물을 0.08 g의 테트라아민백금 클로라이드 및 9.41 g의 NH4NO3을 함유하는 200 ㎖ 수용액에 함침시켜 촉매를 마감한 후 100℃에서 증발시켜 마감된 촉매 입자 상에 0.04 질량%의 최종 백금 수준을 생성하였다. 그리고나서 함침된 샘플에, 미국 특허 7,939,701의 실시예 1에 기재된 바와 같이, 2-단계 하소 및 88℃ 암모늄 이온 교환을 실시한 후 480℃ 산화 및 4시간 425℃ 환원을 실시하였다. 촉매는 0.743 cc/g의 ASTM D4284 침입 용적 및 350 ppm의 백금 함량을 갖고 이를 촉매 B로서 지정하였다.
실시예 3
본 발명의 촉매 성능을, 미국 특허 7,939,701의 실시예 2에 따라 제조된 공지된 기술의 기준 촉매와 비교하였다. 각 테스트는 파라-크실렌이 실질적으로 부재한 공급물 스트림 및 15 질량% 에틸벤젠, 25 질량% 오르쏘-크실렌 및 60 질량% 메타-크실렌을 함유하는 공급물 스트림을 이성체화함으로써 실시되었다. 상기 테스트는 4:1의 수소 대 탄화수소 비율, 7의 중량 시간당 공간 속도 및 0.7 MPa 게이지의 압력에서 실시하였다. 70%의 에틸벤젠 전환은 375℃∼400℃ 범위의 테스트 온도에서 실시되었다. 다음과 같이 크실렌의 손실 및 수반되는 부산물 톨루엔 및 중질 알킬벤젠의 수율로서 성능을 측정하였다:
본 발명의 2개의 촉매는 에틸벤젠을 전환시키고 생성물 내 파라-크실렌의 비율을 증가시키는 동안 크실렌 손실 및 부산물 수율이 기준 촉매보다 더 적다는 것을 입증하였다. 에틸벤젠 전환에 대한 크실렌 손실의 비율은 각각 0.016, 0.006, 및 0.027임을 주목한다.
Claims (9)
- 비평형 C8-방향족 공급원료의 전환 방법으로서,
수소의 존재 하에 340℃∼500℃의 온도, 100 kPa∼5 MPa의 압력, 및 2∼50 hr-1의 질량 시간당 공간 속도를 포함하는 전환 조건의 전환 구역에서,
입자 침입(intrusion) 기공 용적이 0.65 cc/g 이상이고, 입자 결정도 구배가 결정도의 비율에서 10∼50 중량%의 상대 결정도(relative crystallinity)를 갖는 내부 부분에서 90∼100 중량%의 상대 결정도를 갖는 고-결정도 외부 부분으로 증가하며, VIII족, VIB족, 및 VIIB족에서 선택된 하나 이상의 금속과 MFI 제올라이트를 포함하는 결합제 불포함 제올라이트 알루미노실리케이트 입자를 포함하는 촉매상과 상기 공급원료를 접촉시켜 낮은 크실렌 손실률을 갖도록 에틸벤젠을 전환시키고 공급원료보다 더 높은 비율의 크실렌 이성질체를 하나 이상 포함하는 이성체화된 생성물을 얻는 단계를 포함하는 방법. - 제1항에 있어서, 입자 침입 기공 용적은 0.7 cc/g 이상인 방법.
- 제1항에 있어서, 촉매 입자의 내부 부분은 입자 반경의 절반으로 둘러싸인 용적을 가지는 입자 부분으로 규정되는 것인 방법.
