Abstract
석탄류 중 탄화도가 94% 이상 양질의 무연탄은 흑연유사구조(graphitelike structure) 의 불활성(inert) 때문에, 물리적 활성화는 SBET=1,000m2/g이하의 범용 활성탄을 얻을 수 있는 반면, 화학적 활성화, 특히 KOH처리는 무연탄의 탄소 층 기조면(carbon basal plane)에 함침(Impregnation)과 층간화합물(Intercalation)을 형성하는 동시 활성화(Activation)및 분쇄(Crush)를 할 수 있어, 비표면적이 높은 소위 무연탄계 분말 활성탄(Anthracite based powder Activated Carbon)을 신속(총 6시간)하게 형성시킬 수 있다.
Description
도 2는 활성탄 원광(830mesh)과 이로부터 활성화에 의해 제조한 활성탄의 특성적인 진흙 덩이(5㎛)로 구성된 새 집 모양과 이를 확대(1㎛) 촬영한 SEM 사진이다. 이러한 활성탄을 무연탄계 분말활성탄(Athracite-based Powdered Activated Carbon= A-pAC)이라 칭한다.
도 3은 BET분석에 의해서 각 무연탄계 활성탄의 흡착등온곡선이다. 본 발명에 따른 삼정탄(AS)으로부터의 활성탄의 비표면적(SBET= 1,761.3m2/g)은 장성탄(AJ)으로부터의 활성탄의 비표면적(SBET= 1,320m2/g) 및 베트남탄(AV)로부터의 비표면적 (SBET= 1,460m2/g보다 현저하게 높다.
도 4는 XRD-분석도로서, ①은 무연탄을 탈 불순물 및 탄화 후 KOH-함침/층간화합물/ 활성화/분쇄한 후의 XRD를 나타내며, ②는 증류수로 세척한 후의 XRD-분석을 나타낸다.
Claims (2)
- 무연원탄을 8 ~ 30 메쉬(mesh)로 분쇄하는 단계, 분쇄된 무연탄을 순수 N2 분위기하에서 10℃/분의 가열 속도로 760℃에서 1시간 열처리하여 불순물을 제거하는 단계, 불순물이 제거된 무연탄을 10℃/분의 가열 속도로 860℃까지 가열하고 그 온도에서 1시간 동안 유지시켜 탄화시키고 실온까지 냉각하는 단계, 얻은 생성물에 KOH 포화수용액을 가하고 다시 10℃/분의 가열속도로 380℃까지 가열하여 그 온도에서 30분 동안 함침시킨 다음, 10℃/분의 가열속도로 762℃까지 가열하여 그 온도에서 30분 동안 유지시켜 층간 화합물을 형성시키고, 계속 가열하여 950℃에서 2시간 동안 활성화시키는 단계, 및 냉각 물의 세척수가 pH=7.0에 도달할 때까지 증류수 혹은 탈이온수로 세척하는 단계를 포함하여, 높은 비표면적의 무연탄계 분말활성탄을 직접 제조하는 방법.
- 제 1항에 있어서, 무연탄의 열처리거동이 삼정탄임을 특징으로 하는 방법.
