- 배향막을 갖는 두 개의 기판 사이에 액정 물질을 채워 구성된 액정 표시장치에 있어서,상기 두 개의 기판에 형성된 배향막 중 적어도 하나의 배향막을 이중광배향하여 구성하되,상기 이중광배향된 배향막은 기판의 일측에 형성되고 광이성화 특성을 갖는 아조기가 포함된 배향막에 편광된 레이져를 이용하여 형성된 제1배향 패턴(1)과, 기판의 90도 회전시킨 후 편광된 레이져를 이용하여 형성되고 상기 제1배향 패턴(1)과 수직을 이루고 형성된 제2배향 패턴(2)을 포함하는 다안정 네마틱 액정표시장치.
- 제 3 항에 있어서,상기 이중광배향막은 제1배향 패턴(1)과 제2배향 패턴(2)이 겹쳐지거나 배향이 이루어지지 않은 영역인 배향 변화 영역(11, 12)과 ;제1배향패턴(1)이나 제2배향 패턴(2)만이 형성된 배향 고정 영역(21, 22)으로 구성됨을 특징으로 하는 다안정 네마틱 액정표시장치.
- 제 4 항에 있어서,상기 배향 고정 영역(21, 22)은 배향 변화 영역(11, 12)의 30내지 70%임을 특징으로 하는 다안정 네마틱 액정표시장치.
- 제 5 항에 있어서,상기 각각의 배향 고정 영역(21, 22)과 배향 변화 영역(11, 12)의 크기는 0.5×0.5㎛ 내지 5×5㎛임을 특징으로 하는 다안정 네마틱 액정표시장치.
