Abstract
본원 발명은 초전도 박막선재의 완충층을 형성하는 전구용액에 관한 것으로서, 습식화학공정에 의한 완충층의 형성시 1000℃ 이하의 낮은 온도에서 열처리하여도 배향성이 우수한 완충층을 제조할 수 있도록 하는 저온 열처리에 의해 이축배향성 완충층을 형성하는 전구용액을 제공하는 것을 그 목적으로 하며,
상술한 목적을 달성하기 위한 본원발명의 저온 열처리에 의해 이축배향성 완충층을 형성하는 전구용액(이하, '전구용액')은, 완충층의 습식화학공정을 위한 전구용액에 비스무스(bismuth), 붕소(boron), 납(lead), 갈륨(gallium) 등의 카르복시산염 또는 알콕사이드 등 산소가 존재하는 분위기 하에서 열분해 후에 용해점이 1200℃ 이하로 낮은 산화물을 형성하는 금속 원소의 금속염(카르복시산염 또는 알콕사이드) 중 적어도 하나 이상을 첨가하여 이루어지는 것을 특징으로 한다.

본원 발명은 초전도 박막선재의 완충층을 형성하는 전구용액에 관한 것으로서, 더욱 상세하게는, 1000℃ 이하의 낮은 온도에서 열처리하여도 배향성이 우수한 완충층을 제조할 수 있도록 하는 저온 열처리에 의해 이축배향성 완충층을 형성하 는 전구용액에 관한 것이다.
YBa2Cu3O7 -x계로 대표되는 산화물 초전도 선재는 전류수송 특성이 우수하고 고자장 하에서의 임계전류 특성이 우수하므로 향후 전력케이블, 산업용 모터, 발전기 등에 적용되면 대용량 전력기기의 소형화, 고효율화, 대용량화를 가능해질 것으로 예상된다. 산화물초전도 선재는 도1과 같이 금속기판(A), 완충층(B), 초전도층(C)으로 구성되며 특히 전류 수송 특성이 초전도체 결정립의 배향에 의해 크게 변화하므로 높은 임계전류밀도(Jc)를 갖는 초전도 선재를 제조하기 위해서는 초전도체 결정립들이 높은 이축배향성을 지니고 배열되어야 한다. 특히 금속기판의 배향성을 초전도층에 전달하고, 금속기판과 초전도층 간의 반응을 억제하는 역할을 하는 완충층은 초전도 선재 제조에 있어 매우 중요한 역할을 하고 있으며, 전체 초전도 선재 제조 비용의 상당 부분을 완충층 제조 비용이 차지하고 있다. 완충층으로서의 역할을 수행하기 위해서는 금속기판 위에 이축배향성을 이루면서 성장하여야 하며, 기판과 초전도층 간의 반응을 억제하기 위해서는 완충층의 밀도가 높거나 두께가 두꺼워야 한다. 또한 완충층 제조 공정이 금속기판의 특성을 열화시키지 않아야 한다. 이러한 목적을 달성하기 위해 현재 CeO2, YSZ, Y2O3, RE2Zr2O7 (RE=La, Sm, Ce, etc.), SrTiO3, 등 다양한 물질들이 완충층으로 응용되고 있다.
현재 산화물 초전도 선재 제조 공정에서 제조된 금속 기판 위에 완충층 을 성막시키기 위해는 스퍼터링, 레이저증착법, 가열증착법, 유기금속 기상화학증착법 (Metal-Organic Chemical Vapor Deposition) 등 고진공 공정이나, 유기금속증착법(Metal-Organic Deposition; MOD) 등 습식화학공정이 적용되고 있다. 고진공 공정의 경우 10-5Pa 이하의 고진공에서 공정이 이루어지므로 고가의 고진공 장비 및 고도의 고진공 기술이 요구되어 초전도 선재의 실용화에 필수적인 공정 안정성 및 경제성 측면에서 단점을 지니고 있다. 반면에 유기금속증착법(Metal-Organic Deposition; MOD) 등 습식화학공정은 고진공 공정을 사용하지 않으며, 코팅 및 열처리라는 단순한 공정으로 이루어져 있으므로 경제성 측면에서 유리하다. 그러나 유기금속증착법으로 형성되는 완충층의 경우 1000℃ 이상, 통상적으로 1100℃의 고온에서 열처리가 이루어져야만 배향성이 우수하고 치밀한 완충층을 형성할 수 있었다. 이에 따라 금속기판의 결정입계가 변형되어 표면에 홈(groove)이 생기는 등의 문제가 발생하는 등의 문제가 있다. 금속기판의 결정입계 부분에 발생하는 홈은 향후 초전도층 형성시 초전도 결정립 간의 연결성을 악화시켜 초전도층의 임계전류특성을 저하시키며, 특히 향후 초전도 선재의 실용화를 위해 반드시 필요한 장선화 공정에 있어 반드시 해결되어야 할 걸림돌이 된다.
완충층 제조공정에서 발생하는 이러한 단점을 극복하면서도 경제성 있는 저가의 공정으로 배향성이 우수하며, 치밀한 초전도층을 제조한다면 산화물 초전도 선재의 생산성이 극대화되어 산화물 초전도 선재의 실용화에 있어 큰 파급효과를 일으킬 것이다.
그러므로 상술한 종래기술의 문제점을 극복하기 위해서는 1000℃ 이하의 낮은 온도에서 열처리하여도 배향성이 우수한 완충층을 제조할 수 있는 방안이 요구 된다.
따라서, 본원발명은 상술한 종래기술의 문제점을 해결하기 위한 것으로서, 습식화학공정에 의한 완충층 제조시 1000℃ 이하의 낮은 온도에서의 열처리를 통해서도 기판의 특성저하 없이 이축배향성 금속 기판과의 에피택시 성장이 가능하여 최종 완충층이 이축배향된 결정성을 가지며 치밀한 미세조직을 부여할 수 있도록 하는 저온 열처리에 의해 이축배향성 완충층을 형성하는 전구용액을 제공하는 것을 그 목적으로 한다.
상술한 본원발명의 목적은 YSZ, CeO2, RE2O3(RE=Y, Ce, Sm, Gd, Eu...etc.), RE2M2O7(RE=Y, Ce, Sm, Gd, Eu...etc., M=Zr, Ti, Sn,...), AMO3(A=Sr, Ba, Ca, M=Zr, Ti, Sn,) 등의 완충층의 습식화학공정을 위한 전구용액에 비스무스(bismuth), 붕소(boron), 납(lead), 갈륨(gallium) 등의 카르복시산염 또는 알콕사이드 등 산소가 존재하는 분위기 하에서 열분해 후에 용해점이 1200℃ 이하로 낮은 산화물을 형성하는 금속 원소의 금속염(카르복시산염 또는 알콕사이드)를 첨가함으로써 상기의 목적을 달성할 수 있다.
따라서 상술한 목적을 달성하기 위한 본원발명의 저온 열처리에 의해 이축배 향성 완충층을 형성하는 전구용액(이하, '전구용액')은, 알코올계통 액체, 에스테르계 액체, 케톤류 중 적어도 하나 이상 또는 그들의 혼합물의 용매에 YSZ, CeO2, RE2O3(RE=Y, Ce, Sm, Gd, Eu...etc.), RE2M2O7(RE=Y, Ce, Sm, Gd, Eu...etc., M=Zr, Ti, Sn,...), AMO3(A=Sr, Ba, Ca, M=Zr, Ti, Sn,) 등의 완충층을 형성하는 전구체를 첨가하여 전구용액을 제조하고, 저융점상을 형성하는 전구체로서의 금속염(카르복시산염 또는 알콕사이드)을 상기 전구용액에 첨가하여 이루어지는 것을 특징으로 한다.
YSZ, CeO2, RE2O3(RE=Y, Ce, Sm, Gd, Eu...etc.), RE2M2O7(RE=Y, Ce, Sm, Gd, Eu...etc., M=Zr, Ti, Sn,...), AMO3(A=Sr, Ba, Ca, M=Zr, Ti, Sn,) 등의 완충층을 형성하는 전구체로는 이트륨, 세륨, 희토류 원소(RE=Y, Ce, Sm, Gd, Eu...etc.), 전이금속 원소(M=Zr, Ti, Sn,...), 알칼리 토금속류(Sr, Ba, Ca), 등의 카르복시산염, 알콕사이드 등이 가능하다.
상기 용매는, 상기 알코올계통 액체는 물, 메탄올, 에탄올 중 적어도 하나 이상을 포함하여, 상기 에스테르계 액체는 에틸 아세테이트, 에틸 부틸레이트 중 적어도 하나 이상을 포함하고, 상기 케톤류 및 그들의 혼합물은 아세톤, 프로판온 중 적어도 하나 이상을 포함하는 것을 특징으로 한다.
상기 전구용액을 구성하는 전구체의 농도는 0.01 ~ 1M일 수 있으며, 바람직하게는 0.1 ~ 0.6M인 것을 특징으로 한다.
상기 저융점상을 형성하는 전구체로의 금속염은 비스무스(Bi), 붕소(B), 납(Pb), 갈륨(Ga), 리튬 (Li), 나트륨(Na), 칼륨(K), 세슘(Cs)의 금속염 중 적어도 하나 이상의 금속염을 포함하는 것을 특징으로 한다.
상기 저융점상을 형성하기 위해 첨가되는 전구체의 양은 완충층 제조를 위한 전구용액이 함유하는 금속 원소 총량에 대해 몰비로 0.1% ~ 30%의 범위가 알맞으며 더욱 적당하게는 5% ~ 10%의 범위인 것을 특징으로 한다.
상술한 본원발명에 따르는 전구용액을 이용한 완충층의 제조는 알코올계통 액체, 에스테르계 액체, 케톤류 중 적어도 하나 이상 또는 그들의 혼합물의 용매에 완충층을 형성하는 전구체를 첨가하여 전구용액을 제조하는 전구용액제조과정과; 상기 전구용액형성과정에서 형성된 전구용액에 저융점상을 형성하는 전구체로서의 금속염을 첨가하는 저융점상 금속염 첨가과정과; 상기 전구용액을 니켈 또는 니켈 합금을 기반으로 하는 이축배향 금속 기판 또는 산화물층 중 어느 하나가 형성된 금속기판 위에 도포하는 전구용액도포과정과; 상기 전구용액도포과정에서 전구용액이 도포된 금속기판에 대한 건조 및 후열처리를 거쳐 이축배향성이 유도된 산화물 완충층을 형성하는 완충층 형성과정;을 수행하여 이루어지는 것을 특징으로 한다.
상기 용매는, 상기 알코올계통 액체는 물, 메탄올, 에탄올 중 적어도 하나 이상을 포함하여, 상기 에스테르계 액체는 에틸 아세테이트, 에틸 부틸레이트 중 적어도 하나 이상을 포함하고, 상기 케톤류 및 그들의 혼합물은 에스테르계 액체, 아세톤, 프로판온 중 적어도 하나 이상을 포함하는 것을 특징으로 한다.
상기 전구체의 농도는 0.01 ~ 1M일 수 있으며, 바람직하게는 0.1 ~ 0.6M인 것을 특징으로 한다.
상기 전구체의 양은 완충층 제조를 위한 전구용액이 함유하는 금속 원소 총량에 대해 몰비로 0.1% ~ 30%의 범위가 알맞으며 더욱 적당하게는 5% ~ 10%의 범위인 것을 특징으로 한다.
상기 전구용액도포과정은 침지코팅(dip coating), 슬롯다이코팅(slot die coating), 그래비어 코팅(gravure coating), 잉크젯코팅 중 어느 하나의 방식으로 수행되는 것을 특징으로 한다.
상기 완충층 형성과정은 상기 금속기판 위에 도포된 전구용액을 건조 후 200~600℃ 범위 내의 온도에서 1분 ~ 1시간 하소열처리를 행하여 전구박막을 형성하는 하소열처리과정과; 상기 전구 박막을 결정화하여 기판에 대한 에피택시 성장(epitaxial growth)이 일어도록 1~20%범위의 수소가 포함된 아르곤 또는 질소 등의 환원성 분위기 가스 내에서 500~1000℃의 온도로 10분 ~ 5시간 열처리를 행하는 후열처리과정을 포함하여 이루어지는 것을 특징으로 한다.
상기 후열처리과정의 분위기 가스는 반응기체 중에 5% 이하의 수분을 포함하는 것을 특징으로 한다.
상술한 구성을 가지는 본원발명을 더욱 상세히 설명하면 다음과 같다.
일반적으로 습식화학법에 의한 완충층 제조 단계는 전구용액에 따라 유기금속증착법, 솔젤법 중 어느 공정이라도 적용될 수 있다. 습식화학공정은 카르복실산, 질산, 염산 등의 금속염 또는 금속 알콕사이드(metal alkoxide) 및 2,4-펜탄디온, 에탄올아민, 아밀아민 등 킬레이팅제를 주 재료로 하고 제조된 전구용액을 니켈 또는 니켈 합금을 기반으로 하는 이축배향 금속 기판 또는 산화물층이 형성된 금속기판 위에 도포한 후 건조 및 후열처리를 거쳐 이축배향성이 유도된 산화물 완충층을 제조하는 공정으로 이루어 진다. 완충층으로서는 YSZ, CeO2, RE2O3(RE=Y, Ce, Sm, Gd, Eu...etc.), RE2M2O7(RE=Y, Ce, Sm, Gd, Eu...etc., M=Zr, Ti, Sn,...), AMO3(A=Sr, Ba, Ca, M=Zr, Ti, Sn,) 등이 사용될 수 있으며 완충층 제조를 위한 전구용액이 함유하는 금속 원소는 목적하는 완충층의 종류에 따라 변화된다.
본원 발명의 경우 상기 완충층 형성을 위한 전구용액 제조를 위한 용매로서는 물, 메탄올, 에탄올 등 알코올 계통, 에틸 아세테이트, 에틸 부틸레이트 등 에스테르계 액체, 아세톤, 프로판온 등 케톤류 및 그들의 혼합물인 것 등이 적용될 수 있다. 전구 용액 중 금속 원소의 농도는 0.01M에서 1M의 범위가 알맞으며 더욱 적당하게는 0.1M에서 0.6M사이의 농도가 바람직하다. 저온 열처리로 완충층 형성이 가능한 전구용액을 합성하기 위해서는 열처리 공정에서 융점이 낮아 저융점상을 형성할 수 있는 전구체가 첨가된다. 저융점상을 형성할 수 있는 전구체로서는 비스무스(Bi), 붕소(B), 납(Pb), 갈륨(Ga), 리튬 (Li), 나트륨(Na), 칼륨(K), 세슘(Cs) 등의 카르복시산염 또는 알콕사이드 등이 적용가능하다. 특히 산소가 존재하는 분 위기 하에서 열분해 후에 용해점이 1200℃ 이하로 낮은 저융점의 산화물을 형성하는 금속 원소의 카르복시산염 또는 알콕사이드가 적용 가능하며 형성시키려는 완충층 재료에 따라 액상을 형성할 수 있는 전구체의 종류도 달라질 수 있다. 예를 들어 bismuth의 카르복시산염의 경우 산소가 존재하는 분위기 하에서 열분해 후에 융점이 850℃ 가량인 bismuth oxide를 형성한다. 저융점상 형성을 위해 첨가되는 금속염 전구체의 양은 완충층 제조를 위한 전구용액이 함유하는 금속 원소 총량에 대해 몰비로 0.1% ~ 30%의 범위가 알맞으며 더욱 적당하게는 5% ~ 10%의 범위가 바람직하다.
상술한 바와 같이 제조된 본원발명의 전구용액(완충층 용액)은 금속기판에 도포되며, 도포공정을 위해서는 침지코팅(dip coating), 슬롯다이코팅(slot die coating), 그래비어 코팅(gravure coating), 잉크젯코팅 등 다양한 공정이 적용될 수 있다. 금속기판 위에 도포된 완충층은 건조 후 200~600℃ 범위 내의 온도에서 1분 ~ 1시간의 범위 내에서 하소열처리를 거친다. 산소가 포함된 분위기 하에서 하소 열처리 후 기판 위에 도포된 전구용액에 포함되어 있는 유기물들이 제거되고 비정질 또는 나노결정으로 이루어진 산화물 전구박막이 형성된다. 상기 전구 박막은 후열처리 공정을 거쳐 결정화 되며 기판에 대한 에피택시 성장(epitaxial growth)이 일어나게 된다. 후열처리공정은 1~20%범위의 수소가 포함된 아르곤 또는 질소 등 환원성 기체 내에서 500~1000℃의 온도로 10분에서 5시간범위 내에서 이루어진다. 특히 금속기판의 산화를 방지하기 위해 환원성 기체 내에서 공정을 수행하는 것이 필수적이다. 이때 완충층의 완전한 반응을 위해서는 반응기체 중에 5%이하의 수분을 첨가할 수 있다.
이와 같이 금속 카르복시산염을 첨가하여 제조된 고점도 용액을 기판 위에 도포한 후 하소 열처리 공정을 거치면 최대 3㎛ 두께의 균열없는 전구박막을 얻을 수 있어 적절한 최종 열처리 공정을 거치면 임계전류 특성이 우수한 초전도 선재를 제조할 수 있다.
이하 본원 발명의 일 실시예를 나타내는 첨부도면을 참조하여 본원발명을 더욱 상세히 설명한다.
[실시예1]
다음과 같은 조성으로 전구용액을 제조하였다.
전구체: 세륨 아세틸아세토네이트(cerium acetylacetonate)
저융점상 형성을 위한 첨가제: 비스무스 아세테이트(bismuth acetate)
용매: 메탄올, 트리에탄올아민(triethanolamine)
제조된 전구용액 금속이온 대비 0.5M의 농도로 조절되었으며, 은 니켈-텅스텐 합금기판 위에 슬롯다이 코팅 방법으로 도포된 후 대기 중에서 하소 열처리되었다. 하소열처리 후 전구막의 표면은 균일하였으며, 균열은 형성되지 않았다. 하소 열처리 후 형성된 전구막을 온도: 850℃, 분위기: N2/H2(4%) 혼합기체의 조건에서 최종 열처리 후 CeO2 완충층을 얻을 수 있었다.
도 2 및 도 3은 실시예 1에 따라 형성된 CeO2 완충층의 X선 회절도(도 2) 및 표면사진(도 3)을 나타낸다.
도 2 및 도 3에 나타낸 바와 같이, 첨가되는 비스무스의 양을 증가함에 따라 (001) 배향을 가리키는 CeO2(002) 피크의 강도가 강해지고 10%의 비스무스를 첨가하였을 때 CeO2(111) 피크는 거의 관찰되지 않고 CeO2(002) 피크만이 존재하는 것을 알 수 있다.
이를 더욱 상세히 설명하면, 형성된 완충층에 대해 (001)면의 c-축 정렬도를 알아 보기 위하여 θ-rocking curve를 측정한 결과 피크의 반가폭은 9°로 나타났다. 또한 2축 집합조직화를 알아보기 위하여 CeO2(111) phi scan을 측정하였다. ψ각 54.7°로부터 측정된 φ-scan에서 CeO2 완충층에 대한 반가폭은 9°인 것으로 나타났다. X-ray diffraction pattern 측정 결과 La2Zr2O7 층의 배향성이 우수하다는 것을 알 수 있다. 주사전자현미경으로 표면을 분석한 결과 40nm 정도 크기의 균일한 결정립으로 이루어져 있음을 알 수 있으며, 치밀한 미세조직이 관찰된다.
[실시예2]
다음과 같은 조성으로 전구용액을 제조하였다.
전구체: 질산 란타늄, 지르코늄 프로폭사이드
저융점상 형성을 위한 첨가제: 비스무스 아세테이트
용매: 메탄올
제조된 전구용액은 니켈-텅스텐 합금기판 위에 슬롯다이 코팅 방법으로 도포된 후 하소 열처리되었다. 하소열처리 후 전구막의 표면은 균일하였으며, 균열은 형성되지 않았다. 하소 열처리 후 형성된 전구막을 온도: 850℃, 분위기: N2/H2(4%) 혼합기체의 조건에서 최종 열처리 후 La2Zr2O7 완충층을 얻을 수 있었다.
도 4 및 도 5는 실시예 2에 따라 형성된 La2Zr2O7 완충층의 X선 회절도(도 4) 및 표면사진(도 5)이다.
형성된 완충층에 대해 (001)면의 c-축 정렬도를 알아 보기 위하여 θ-r℃king curve를 측정한 결과 피크의 반가폭은 5.7°로 나타났다. 또한 2축 집합조직화를 알아보기 위하여 La2Zr2O7 (111) phi scan을 측정하였다. ψ각 54.7°로부터 측정된 φ-scan에서 La2Zr2O7 층에 대한 반가폭은 8.5°인 것으로 나타났다. X선 회절분석 결과 La2Zr2O7 층의 배향성이 우수하다는 것을 알 수 있다. 주사전자현미경으로 표면을 분석한 결과 100nm 정도 크기의 균일한 결정립으로 이루어져 있음을 알 수 있으며, 치밀한 미세조직이 관찰된다.
상술한 본원 발명의 실시예는 본원 발명의 상세한 기술을 위한 것으로 본원 발명의 범위를 제한하는 것은 아니다.
상술한 본원발명의 전구용액은 통상적으로 알려진 공정에 비하여 낮은 온도에서 열처리가 가능해짐으로써 습식화학공정에 의한 완충층 형성시 발생할 수 있는 금속기판의 특성 저하 등의 문제 발생을 억제할 수 있으며, 비교적 저렴한 비용으로 합성이 가능하므로 기존에 개발된 전구용액에 비하여 경제성 및 산업화측면에서 상당한 비교우위를 가져 향후 산화물 초전도 선재의 실용화에 크게 기여할 수 있도록 하는 효과를 제공한다.
