일반적으로 유기물질은 분해시에 산소를 소비하는 것으로서 토양에 하수 슬러지를 직 매립할 경우 하수 슬러지의 급격한 분해로 토양속의 산소가 결핍되어 토양 속에 있는 각종 생물의 성장에 피해를 주게 되며 또한 유기성 폐기물은 탄소(C)와 질소(N)의 함유비 즉 C/N의 비에 있어 질소분에 비해 탄소분이 많은 것으로 이는 탄소분이 토양중의 질소분과 반응하여 이를 소비함으로서 식물이 이용할 수 있는 질소분이 줄어드는 질소기아 현상이 발생되는바, 본 발명은 종래의 하수 슬러지를 매립전에 먼저 발효시킴으로서 탄소분이 이산화탄소로 변하여 대기 속으로 증발 함에 따라 이를 매립지에 매립시에는 토양을 악화시키지 않게 되는 것이다.In general, organic materials consume oxygen when they are decomposed, and when sewage sludge is directly buried in the soil, oxygen is depleted in the soil due to the rapid decomposition of sewage sludge, which damages the growth of various organisms in the soil.
