TECHNICAL FIELD The present invention relates to thermoelectric technology, and more particularly, to a thermoelectric device incorporating a heat pipe.
According to the second law of thermodynamics, the minimum energy required to transfer heat from low to high is determined by the temperature difference per unit calorie. This minimum required energy is constant for a given temperature regardless of the method or material from the thermodynamic point of view, but there are many differences in terms of engineering, especially in terms of efficiency and convenience.
Existing heat pumps are subjected to compression-condensation (cooling) -expansion-evaporation (heating) process using refrigerants, which mainly use Freon gas.In the case of indoor use, performance coefficient ( COP (Coefficient of Performance) is about 3-5. That is, the power consumption is very good, about 1/3 to 1/5 of the cooling heat amount. Thus, the conventional heat pump using the refrigerant has the advantage of excellent performance and large capacity, while the pollution caused by the refrigerant-Freon gas is subject to use restrictions because it destroys the ozone layer-noise due to intermittent operation of the compressor, It also has many disadvantages such as a lot of indoor space required by installation of condenser and evaporator, and an increase in parts cost due to use of condenser and evaporator.
In recent years, a new thermoelectric heat pump has been introduced using the Peltier's Effect, which means the difference in temperature between the two ends by the difference in electromotive force.
Thermoelectric heat pump is a thermoelectric element that obtains a temperature difference by using electricity, and its practicality is sufficient based on thermodynamic theory, and it has been proved to be practical for some special purposes, but there are many practical problems to be solved in terms of practical (engineering) aspects. Have In other words, the material aspect related to the development of the thermoelectric heat pump element and the heat generation in the element-heat is generated due to the flow of current-and thus the disadvantageous coefficient of performance (about 0.5), the need for a high heat transfer coefficient (using air There is a limit to increase the heat transfer coefficient during convection). However, despite these shortcomings, thermoelectric heat pumps are currently being used for special purposes such as semiconductor chip cooling or military purposes (eg missile warheads, tank cooling) that require miniaturization and are insensitive to energy and equipment costs. It is expanding its field of application.
Currently, the development of technology related to thermoelectric heat pump devices is proceeding in two ways. One is the development of materials related to thermoelectric elements, and the other is the development of technologies to improve heat transfer capability. Although the material technology related to the dual thermoelectric heat pump element has advanced and made significant progress, the technology related to improving the heat transfer capacity is in a stalemate state.
A typical thermoelectric heat pump device has a structure in which the P-
N-type currents are formed such that the poles of the bifurcation ends of the π-type series circuit PN couple in which the P-
In addition, if the current direction is reversed, both holes and electrons transfer heat to the
However, since the conventional thermoelectric heat pump device generates a very large temperature difference within a small thickness, there is a risk that the device may be easily damaged due to thermal stress, and thus there is a disadvantage in that the chip may not be manufactured to a certain size or more. In addition, since the ceramic is used as an insulator, it causes a large thermal resistance, resulting in a large temperature difference between the inside and the outside of the ceramic. There was a problem. In addition, since the high temperature part and the low temperature part are not separated from each other and connected to the semiconductor, there is a disadvantage in that the magnitude of the temperature difference generated in the device itself is reduced.
In other words, in the thermoelectric heat pump element, in addition to the amount of heat required for cooling, the power supplied is converted into a calorific value, so that a high heat flux is generated at the surface of the densely packed element, which requires a high heat transfer capacity (heat transfer coefficient and heat transfer area). In order to enhance the heat transfer capability, a forced convection fan is installed, and a heat sink Fin or a heat pipe is additionally installed on the thermoelectric plate.
2 is a view illustrating a conventional thermoelectric heat pump in which an additional device is installed to improve heat transfer capability, and includes a heat sink having a plurality of cooling fins on both sides of the
However, since these additional devices are additionally attached to the thermoelectric plate, there are manufacturing difficulties, and since the thermal resistance is present and installed outside the insulator of the

First, since the semiconductor and the heat pipe are integrated in one element, the contact thermal resistance between the thermoelectric element and the thermoelectric plate shown in the conventional thermoelectric heat pump can be eliminated. For the same reason, the fabrication of thermoelectric heat pump elements is simplified. The conventional thermoelectric heat pump device is not easy to manufacture because the fin or heat pipe is additionally attached to the thermoelectric plate after the thermoelectric heat pump chip fabrication.
In addition, the heat transfer area is significantly increased compared to the conventional heat transfer heat pump, and improves the heat transfer capability.
And the temperature difference (DELTA) T in the thermoelectric element itself can be reduced significantly. [Delta] T is theoretically the temperature difference between the outside and the bet, but in reality there is a much larger [Delta] T between the low temperature part and the high temperature part as shown in FIG. This is the result of the combination of ΔT HT and ΔT T / E for heat transfer. The thermoelectric heat pump device according to the present invention can significantly reduce the ΔT HT component. For example, the temperature difference between the cooling space and the outside is about 15 ° C, but the performance of the heat pump is considerably degraded because the temperature difference of the thermoelectric heat pump itself is very large. However, in the present invention, the performance coefficient (COP) can be greatly improved by greatly reducing it. Can be. On the other hand, the thermoelectric heat pump device of the present invention can significantly reduce the unnecessary heat generated by a sharp reduction in power required by the improvement of the COP, which is also represented by a feedback effect of reducing ΔT. A factor limiting the size of a conventional thermoelectric heat pump device was thermal stress due to temperature differences in the device. In the present invention, such a thermal stress can be significantly reduced by reducing the temperature difference in the device, and the size of the device can be increased because the connection conductor for the electrical connection between the semiconductors is fluid.

6A is a characteristic diagram showing a current-Q C (cooling capacity) curve according to ΔT, and FIG. 6B is a characteristic diagram showing a current-COP (performance coefficient) curve according to ΔT, respectively, T = 300 It is measured based on K.
Referring to these, it can be seen that as ΔT decreases, the cooling capacity and the coefficient of performance increase, which in turn indicates that the performance of the thermoelectric pump device is improved.
