The first step is to read the servo defects from the hard disk. The second step is to determine whether there is a servo defect in the longitudinal direction of the track among the servo defects read in the first step. In the third step, when it is determined that there are servo defects in the second step, it is determined whether two or more servo defects are present in succession. In the fourth step, when it is determined in the third step that two or more servo defects are continuously present, the defect processing is performed on the tracks around the track where the servo defect is generated.
According to the present invention, when two or more consecutive servo defects are generated in the longitudinal direction of a track, the defect processing is also performed on the tracks around the tracks to prevent the scratchable defect from being diffused and to generate an error.
Description
The present invention relates to a hard disk drive, and more particularly, to a servo defect processing method in a hard disk drive.
Generally, a hard disk drive includes a hard disk assembly including a mechanical part such as a disk, an actuator, a head, and a drive control including a circuit part such as a lead-right channel, a position control system, and a spindle motor controller. It is divided into PCB (Printed Circuit Board). By the way, there exists a part in the hard disk which is a defect which cannot read stored information or record data input by a user. Such defects often occur when the disc's electrical properties are degraded or when the disc is physically damaged (eg, stamped or scratched). Fig. 1 shows a case where a defect occurs in Servo 2 in a track. When the servo defect occurs, the CPU indicates that the defect has occurred in the maintenance cylinder several times in the maintenance cylinder so that the servo information in this part is not utilized. In addition, the error is prevented by not using the data sector (data 3 and data 4 in Fig. 1) connected to the servo marked as defect. On the other hand, when a scratch defect occurs in the longitudinal direction of the track (from the inner circumference to the outer circumference of the disc or vice versa), the defect is processed only for the generated defect. However, since the distance between the tracks is very narrow, scratchable defects are spread, and an error occurs additionally and data is lost.
Disclosure of Invention An object of the present invention is to solve a problem as described above. When two or more consecutive servo defects occur in the longitudinal direction of a track, a servo defect in a hard disk drive that performs defect processing on the tracks around the track is also provided. To provide a treatment method.
In order to achieve the above object, a servo defect processing method in a hard disk drive is provided. The method includes the first to fourth steps.
Next, embodiments of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings.
2 is a flowchart of a servo defect processing method in a hard disk drive according to the present invention.
The servo defect is read from the hard disk (step 202). The CPU detects the servo defect from the servo area recorded on the disk. The servo defect read in step 202 is checked to determine whether there is a servo defect generated in the longitudinal direction of the track (step 204). The existence of the servo defect in the longitudinal direction means that the track increases or decreases in the same sector. Means there is a defect in the direction. In step 204, it is determined whether two or more consecutive servo defects exist among the servo defects generated in the longitudinal direction (step 206). This is to determine whether the generated servo defects are consecutive rather than sparse. The reason for performing the same steps as step 206 is that two or more servo defects that are continuous in the longitudinal direction can be regarded as scratchable servo defects that are likely to spread to the surrounding track (inner circumference, outer circumference, or circumferential direction). to be. If it is determined in step 206 that two or more consecutive servo defects exist, defect processing is also performed on the tracks around the track where the defect occurred. (Step 208) Two or more consecutive servo defects exist in step 206. If it is determined not to perform the defect processing, only the corresponding servo in which the defect is generated is subjected to defect processing (step 210).
3 is a view for explaining a method of performing a defect process on two or more consecutive servo defects generated in the track longitudinal direction.
트랙 n+1 및 트랙 n+2에 존재하는 서보 디펙트가 확인되면(206단계), 주변의 트랙(트랙 n 및 트랙 n+3)의 서보 영역에도 디펙트 처리를 한다.(208단계) 서보 디펙트가 연속하지 않고 띄엄띄엄 발생된 경우(예컨대, 트랙 n 및 트랙 n+3에 서보 디펙트가 발생된 경우)에는 트랙 n 및 트랙 n+3의 서보 디펙트 각각에 대하여 디펙트 처리를 한다.(210단계)Referring to FIG. 3, the defect processing process when two or more consecutive servo defects occur in the longitudinal direction will be described in detail. FIG. 1 shows that servo defects that occur in succession to tracks n + 1 and n + 2 have occurred. If the servo defects present in the track n + 1 and the track n + 2 are confirmed (step 206), the defect processing is also performed on the servo area of the surrounding tracks (track n and track n + 3) (step 208). If the defects are not contiguous and sparsely generated (e.g., if a servo defect is generated in track n and track n + 3), the defect processing is performed for each of the servo defects of track n and track n + 3. (Step 210)

According to the present invention, when two or more continuous servo defects are generated in the longitudinal direction of a track, the defect processing is also performed on the tracks around the tracks to prevent scratching defects from spreading, thereby preventing errors.
