Abstract

PURPOSE: A structure of a shadow mask for a color cathode ray tube is provided to improve color purity of an edge of a screen by applying tensile force to a center portion and an edge portion of a shadow mask. CONSTITUTION: A shadow mask(107) has an edge portion and an effective screen portion(111). An aperture is not formed on the edge portion of the shadow mask(107). A plurality of apertures are formed on the effective screen portion(111). A plurality of tension reinforcement ribbons(113) are formed along a long side and a shirt side of four edge portions of the effective screen portion(111). The aperture(112) is not formed on the tension reinforcement ribbon(113). The width of the tension reinforcement ribbon(113) is less than 30 micro meter. The tension reinforcement ribbons(113) is formed nearly to the edge portion(110) of the shadow mask(107).
